Im experiencing very very slow browsing at the moment on my 1mb line, @Mweb Guy are doing any sort of maintenance to the network at the moment? Anyone else having slow speeds?

Good Morning GreatD7007, please provide me your MWEB account details via inbox messaging in order for me to look at you account.

MwebGuy I have been throttled for a week. Surely that's excessive.my internet has been unusable

Morning modern10, your account shows that you should be unthrottled in approximately 2 - 3 days.

Take your business somewhere because MWEB doesn't care about your needs. All they care about is $$$ now.

I suggest either Openweb or Afrihost.

Thanks guys. It's actually my last week as a Mweb customer. Still mulling over who to pick as my new ISP.

Unfortunately ISP's are flavour of the month stuff...what I have learned over the last 10 years is that you will switch ISP's this is a given. No loyalty here. I have been with most of them from Telkom, AH, Axxess, Openweb and Mweb - just depends what you need and if they are willing to give it to you at that specific time.

For now things are OK again until my curfew kicks in again. I really do not understand why it is so difficult to explain the formula that Mweb uses...

PS: On a 2Mbps package - throttled max +-38kB/s on all protocols Unthrottled max +- 200kB/s on all protocols.

Throttling? How long does it last for? Are you notified when it becomes active? How much slower is it?

Hey SabreWolfy, throttling period is determined by the individuals usage. My Account, will reflect when the you are throttled or not. The speed to which you are throttled is determined by the product the client is on.

Morning, your account show's that throttling has been lifted... Enjoy your Gaming ;)

LOL - Damn you, you ABUSER you... You've done your time, now go easy see ... don't abuse ANYTHING .. and leave the toilet door open ... no oopsies see ... Enjoy your gaming ... ( Cant wait to throttle your ass again hehehehe)
Love

They do not notify you when it becomes active and if you are on a 1mbps line you are limited to 100gb download before being throttle. So as it is on a 30 day rolling data use cycle to be sure you cannot be throttled you cannot use more than 50gb a month anything above that rapidly increases your chances of reaching the 100gb instant throttle number. The only as said to be safe is to use 50gb or less each month

Something is funky with Mweb in Durban again .......

O great. I've read that the download for Battlefield 4 that we can start pre-loading through Origin is going to be 24GB. Guessing this is going to push so many Mweb users into the Throttled category...

There needs to be some control put in place for Steam and Origin to ensure that we don't all get throttled when we download a game from these platforms.
Well, I'll see how it goes tomorrow. Hopefully I don't get throttled by this massive download. If I do then I'll have to cancel with Mweb. With things like Origin and Steam these days, there really can't be such a limit that screws everyone that makes digital purchases.

Sorry for you, unfortunately Mweb includes Steam and Origin updates as part of the download allowance. And yes it will push alot of people over the throttle threshold. It is the only reason I have cancelled with Mweb! For those that do not yet under stand, Mweb's throttling has nothing to do with the torrent junkies and everything to do with simpily reducing all users downloads on their network.
They made a big deal about the so-called 3% and people downloading 1.5TBs but they are in fact targeting anyone who downloads more than 50gb per month. Mwebguy will not dispute this fact because he knows as well as I do 50 + 50 equals throttle on a 1mbps account. This is not to say you cannot download more and remain unthrottled it is simpily the safe number that ensures you will never will be throttled. If you go on their facebook site you will see it is the numbers being given by the Mweb techies to ensure no throttling.

You are talking crap again. How does 25GB push ANY speed into throttle territory? The file would have to be 100GB at least.

Qrox, what is your 30 day threshold sitting at?
