Hey guys, if you change your password on the mweb myaccount site, does it automatically change your password (the one used with @dslmweb username) as well?

You will need to change the password on the router manually once you change it via My Account.
 
This is exactly the issue: MWEB intentionally and consistently (as late as January 2013) represented broadly in marketing material in interviews with the press and in continues by way of their web page metadata and various representations which are not difficult to find that they offer an unthrottled service in contrast to Telkom (who as far as I know have actually discontinued any throttling on uncapped and throttle their soft-capped (where the cap is stated) clients). They have used the definition guidelines to defend themselves in a complaint to the ASA while in breach of those very guidelines
I know this is so 2012 but reading it makes you wonder how they can now sit and say exactly the opposite. I wonder if this guy still works for Mweb lol

Uncapped ADSL prices have declined substantially since Telkom cut its wholesale ADSL prices earlier this year. As one of South Africa’s leading Internet Service Providers, MWEB is in full support of these price cuts as cheaper Internet makes it possible for more South Africans to have ADSL at home. MWEB has been very vocal about throttling and about consumers having the right to have both an affordable Internet connection with the best possible experience where they can enjoy uncapped Internet without being slowed down because of data usage. MWEB doesn’t throttle but rather shapes its network which means that the ISP manages the network and allows certain traffic like browsing the Internet, online gaming, YouTube, email and VoIP to take preference. “With the demand for fast uncapped internet increasing; we are finding more people online exploring and experiencing rich media content, live streaming broadcasts and downloading their favourite content. The demand for bandwidth has increased alongside this growth and many ISP’s are facing ever increasing strain on their network infrastructure. They simply can’t keep up with the demand and are forced to throttle a user’s connection during peak periods on the network. By reducing the speed of those subscribers who are using the most bandwidth, they are able to relieve some strain on the network, but at the customer’s expense,” explains Hoosain. MWEB has made substantial investments in IPC capacity to ensure that users are able to experience the best that the Internet has to offer which is why many users with high bandwidth requirements, like online gamers have signed with the ISP. “Consumers should certainly shop around for the best ADSL deals but they need to be aware of the factors that can affect Internet speeds and ask potential ISP’s to provide them with all the information and terms and conditions prior to signing up with them,” concludes Hoosain. What is happening with your application?
 
You misunderstand.

I had and paid for the 4mbps package for october. Now my data usage for october is rated on my current 2mbps package and not the package I used in October. This is unfair and I expect the throttling to be lifted immediately.

Sadly but true. Their tech support department is a big joke. Derek Hershaw himself is a big joke. His view that anybody who is doing business with MWEB is an abuser is a big joke as well. What he did with MWEB's AUP is totally unfair and unreasonable. If you want your expectations of the ADSL service that you paid for to be matched 100%, then move to another ISP that is not MWEB. Imo, it's the most logical solution to your MWEB-related issue.

The account is not throttled. Was there any active traffic in the background when doing the speedtest?

@SHVAK - I can say HONESTLY that I am not responsible as I am abusing another ISPs network at the moment .... and AH isn't calling me funny names - the only active traffic I am concerned about is the dude in GTi doing 160 up and down my street ....:D:D

THROTTLE!!! Why wait ... You know what the process is ... Step 1. Belittle the customer 2. Throttle to death 3. Ignore the customer

Come on .. That's how MWEB operates....
 
What is the monthly threshold for the 2mb standard uncapped?

I just upgraded from the 1mb premium on the 1st, and got throttled yesterday. Last month I used 76 gb.

Is the throttling based on the last 30 days' use, or based on current usage projected over the next few weeks?

Any idea how long I'll stay throttled for?
 
Mweb Guy I'm still being throttled :/ You said in 1 to 2 days it should clear and my account will run at full speeds. Please can you look into this further, I repeat I'm still Throttled :/ What's the point of uncapped products when you limit them! Not happy
