MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

So what you saying is you can be throttled for one month and another month not. So if I for once downloaded to much this month and then the next month I would be throttled. Can anyone enlighten me how other ISP's work regarding throttling?

You mean defined limits?
Open cards?
No hocus pocus?

Some examples of ISPs that had rolling windows and then of course Neotel's LTE offer:

Hey Mweb Guy

Thanks for the assistance, refund has been processed and will be sent through. Sad to be losing you but definitely not sad to be losing your bull**** company, good luck for when people are first throttled it's gonna be hell on earth for you...

Cheers
Scotty

But you can't do EFT and that sucks. I don't mind being shaped a bit but I need ISP that can do EFT. openweb is my next choice but what package should be enough. I don't want to pay and arm and a leg for unshaped uncapped unthrottled.

The last time I was on Openweb I used the gold uncapped and was good - I never was throttled or had to worry about getting kicked out for using the uncapped in my uncapped product.

They also offer a free 7 day trial on their network just send a PM to mr beep , his on the openweb forum.

The reason I left them for Afrihost was that afrihost was cheaper and still provided great performance

@Mweb Guy

I cancelled in August, so September is the calendar month. I paid for September, and my account will terminate on 30/09/2013. Why is there then om my account statement amounts for October and the account balance not R0, but R398?

Hi, Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I have escalated this to our specialists to investigate and contact you.

I had a conversation with Andre Joubert from mweb and not even he could tell me the limits before they throttle you, I dont think mweb knows either. From what I can tell they thumb suck it on a daily basis, I moved away a second time and got myself Openweb Uncapped Unshaped and its beutifull.

Mweb uncapped was nice a year ago but that is a long forgotten memory now.

Its my 1st month on my upgraded package, been throttled heavily since the 2nd. My question is when does it become unthrottled again. This could easily be my worse internet experience ever..

Hi Carter

I see you are on our 2Mb standard product and I can confirm that your account is throttled.

The limits are based on a rolling average and are recalculated daily.
If you do find yourself limited, the less data you
use, the sooner your speeds will return to normal.

How much had you used?

But these limits tapes are kept secret; mwebgate doesn't want to share how its calculated.

So much for free the web and the promise of not throttling...

Rather pointless question don't you think? Even if its 1 byte, we have nothing to measure it up againts because mweb doens't want to give us the ruler or plant the goal posts.

Just happened to need to download on the 1st and 2nd. done about 14gig so far. last night i couldnt even run a speedtest on mybb. I must add that the package I upgraded from was great, always close to full speed. Boom all of a sudden it feels like dial-up.

@mweb guy when will my acc show unthrottled? i have use very little past 2 days and seen very little improvement.. last month i thought id upgrade, this month i feel like cancelling.

Well that's why it's worth establishing for ourselves.

How much did you do last month? It seems +/- 150GB a month is the break point for 1mbps subscribers.

You mean like this: (±93GB, with 60GB being steam)

or: (41.78GB used and throttled.)
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...ack-Part-3?p=10968781&viewfull=1#post10968781

or: (±130GB per month.)

But wait there is more: You reported this information as spam, shall I then report your posts enquiring as spam
