MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Mweb Guy.. why are the premium paying guys not being upgraded ???

Dear MWEB Customer

Good News! Telkom recently announced that they will be upgrading customers ADSL lines to provide increased broadband line speeds, the upgrades will take place from November 2013 to February 2014. In response to this, we will be making changes to a number of our Standard Uncapped ADSL products, introducing a 6Mbps Uncapped ADSL product and reducing the pricing on our 10Mbps and 20Mbps Standard Uncapped ADSL products.

We are unable to make changes to our Premium Uncapped Shaped products. We are currently in discussions with Telkom around a significant reduction in their wholesale IPC charges; if these are forthcoming we will make adjustments to our Premium products. Our Unshaped products, which currently have no usage thresholds, also remain unchanged.

To take full advantage of the new line speed changes, you will need to ensure that your data matches your new line speed. Premium Uncapped ADSL customers will have a choice to either stay on the same data threshold or move to a standard package with lower data thresholds. A number of our Standard Uncapped ADSL customers will automatically be migrated early next year at no extra cost. We will be in touch shortly to advise you on the best data options available.

Afternoon AntiMiracleMan, are you signed up for a data only product? Please also provide me your MWEB account details via private messaging.

We are currently in discussion with Telkom regarding IPC cost, hopefully this is resolved in the near future. That way, we will be able to make amendments to our premium product pricing.

mweb 4mb premium account will be R539 vs Telkom 4mb account R249.... this is a no brainer...

Yup beginning to think that too .... also on 4Mb premium , but dog slow as well today for some reason nothing major happening (downloads etc) so why pay a premium for the same service :) MWEB Guy , what is the cancellation process like now ? I'm cancelling today ...

Hi

I have replied to your PM.

FTFY

One would hope you are in discussions with Mr. H. to drop your ridiculous throttle policy ... because even at a good price, 3 days of throttling is worth nothing .....

Thanks a million Mweb for your amazing service over the years leading up to August 2013. While I support the reasoning behind your decision to cull most of the customer data usage from a cost perspective, the way you have implemented this leaves much to be desired.

As a hardcore Mweb supporter for years, my cancellation has been finalized last month and I am quite excited to move over to axxess. Just to be clear I am not expecting better service from them, but any "ISP" that does not understand that most if not all of its "Excessive abusers" are within the IT industry supporting clients/business does not by any stretch of the imagination deserve my support. We make up a very large portion of the not so large South African IT industry thank you for clearing up exactly who your target market has shifted to.

Thanks for the chuckle though, I would like you to enquire the current century from your payroll department and quiz any 14 year old on the street on how many devices he/she has at home that uses data. Taking into account the increase average data usage of a family of 4 over the last couple of years how does a ISP offer a 5GB home package to its customers at all. Would it be to find a confident way to push DSTV's new streaming feature? Again not the kind of business practices I would find myself supporting.

Anyway that is my 2 cents on this whole ****storm. Cheers Mweb.

Currently on a 2MB premium account with +- 200GB a month, what are the limits attached to a 4mb standard package before getting limited @Mwebguy

We have the following connected through wifi at home:

1. Galaxy Note 3
2. Galaxy S3 mini
3. Galaxy S3 mini
4. Work Laptop
5. Entertainment Laptop
6. Sony TV
7. Samsung Blu-Ray Player
8. Xbox360

I download enough stuff to watch to keep us busy during the month. (Never lower than 720p.)

I'm on a 1mb Premium Uncapped and average about 60GB per month.

Hi Michaelmw

The threshold for the 4MB premium package is in the region of 400Gig per month on a 30 day rolling window.

What would the threshold be on a standard 4Mb ? Currently on 4Mb Premium , decided to cancel (got your PM about some forms blah blah) , my needs are around 200Gb a month would the Std 4MB/6Mb cover that ?

Wants to find out the limit of the standard package ? As the previous post my needs are also 200gb and if so this would be nice considering the reduction in price too and speed increase

Hi Michaelmw

The Standard 4MB package threshold is around 110Gig pm on a 30 day rolling window. I will then suggest you change over to the 6MB Standard for the cost saving however are you happy to curb your enthusiasm to around a threshold of 150Gig?
You did say you +- 200Gig ;-)
