MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Wow 110GB for a 4mb line is just madness in my opinion....I'm on a 2mb premium and just looking for the speed bump to play online....the fact that no shaping is done is my irritation .... Its the first month I've gone slightly over my limit and been throttled to a dead stop, I'd be okey if shaping was taken into affect where I could for example access the mweb homepage still but while being throttled that isn't even possible nor is YouTube videos on 144p which is pathetic to me....I was happy with mweb as I never was throttled before but now its a new story...the price increase doesn't allow me to currently benefit from my free line upgrade and there is no ways I'm going to curb my limit to 110gb a month as every month is about 200gb just a fact, really keeping my eyes open for what else there is to offer in other markets, been nearly 2 years at mweb but when something like 110gb is offered on a 4mb line I find that sick. There would have been no problem had the line been in the region of 250-300gb and I would of understood too but anyways....

Hi Michaelmw

The Standard package thresholds is low as it was not designed for high usage users.

The threshold for the 10Mb Standard package is roughly 250GB, bearing in mind the 30 day rolling window period.
Just a quick question, is throttling the same across all speeds. What I mean to ask is the 10mbps line when throttled going at the same speed as say a 1mbps/2mbps speed when throttled?

Throttling feels like you are put on dialup hating it and worst of all is I only did 30gb out of my normal monthly usage patterns

Yeah I know that but I was wondering if the 10gbps account was throttled down to the same speed as a 2gbps account that has been throttled.

In general I suppose they throttle you down to a crawl , irrespective of your line speed , otherwise too much config on their part and trying to keep track on what speed who is. Personally I also think a 110GB cap on a 4Mb standard package is ridiculous , I will stay on the premium for now , but let's see what the new year brings ... also been with MWEB since the initial hooh-hah but now I think change is like a holiday :) and seeing as I'm not going on holiday ;p

And another mweb customer lost...filling out the cancellation form...hello Afrihost Business

Ok so today I called MWEB wanting to upgrade my 2mb uncapped to 4mb uncapped all inclusive. I found out that I'm on the 2mb uncapped premium account and that the 4mb uncapped is the standard package. How is it that I will get throttled by exceeding 110GB yet with my 2mb I've downloaded more than 200gb and not get throttled. I like to download and game a lot, so is this actually a good upgrade or will I be let down?

My same factor and why I decided to move to afrihost business

You pay 166 more all inclusive for a complete 4mb business and line included

Yeah that seems like the way to go I guess. Just don't understand why anyone would get a 4mb uncapped for R450 and then get throttled beyond 110gb, unless people like fast browsing or something. I can't see on their website if the R697 includes the line rental as well, or am I blind or something..

Hi deathburst

It seems you were provided some conflicting information and I'm really sorry to read about it.

We have 2 different 4mbps account that we offer:

one is the standard account - http://www.mweb.co.za/productspricing/2/Home/ADSL/UncappedADSL.aspx
The threshold is roughly 110GB's for a 30day rolling window

The other is the premium account - http://www.mweb.co.za/productspricing/2/Home/ADSL/PremiumUncappedADSL.aspx
Here the threshold is about 400Gb's for a 30day rolling window

Please drop me a PM with your details should you still want to upgrade the account.

Thanks

So if I understand it correctly then Mweb doesn't have any Uncapped packages.

It's either Premium Softcapped or Standard Softcapped.

I wish someone out there had a True Uncapped option. I'm not a heavy downloader. I average about 60GB per month. But if I know that I won't get throttled then I would easily do more than double that amount of data. Maybe even three times as much.

I used to do about 300 - 400GB per month when I was with Afrihost. Without getting throttled.
