MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

MWEB ####ING SUCKS! IT DOESN'T EVEN DESERVE TO BE CALLED AN INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER. IF YOU HAVE ANY SELF-RESPECT, UPGRADE TO A BETTER ISP.

I dont quite agree with you.. i have had good service on my 2mb premium account.. and when i need assistance i can pick up the phone and phone them and get it sorted... if u try it with telkom i reccommend you pack a survival pack and prepare for a 2 hour hold.... I dont mind paying for bandwidth... i prever service over bandwidth... If sertain ports are underperforming i want to be able to phone and have a techy look into it...

is that you mr mweb guy [or one of the employees] ?

Mweb Guy - please have the guys look into the email login issue (it gets stuck on a loop). It's pretty frustrating.

Ok so my line has been upgraded by Telkom from a 2mb to a 4mb. Will I be able to see a speed increase even though my uncapped package hasn't been adjusted to the 4mb uncapped account?

Good Day, please try clearing cookies and cache Or check browser proxy settings (no proxy enabled).

Good Afternoon, you may see the occasional burst of speeds past 2MB. However, you should obtain 2MB speeds more often than not.

I've been with Mweb since they launched uncapped and have received great service. I'm not a download hog (avg. 70GB/m @ 2Mb UC Premium) which may be the reason for my level of service. Having downgraded to their 4Mb UC Standard account, daytime streaming has been good, evening downloads@full speed.

Until I see real prolonged degradation while maintaining my current usage behaviour, I'll be sticking around (while the real hogs move off to other ISPs)

I have a non-premium Mweb 1Mbps uncapped account. My line is syncing at 2Mbps. As far as I understand it non-premium uncapped accounts are being upgraded for free. When will this happen? I am still on 1Mbps according the my account info on the Mweb website.

Firstly let me say that I am glad to see that you are happy with your choice of ISP.

I have also been with MWEB from the start ... I too am not a ...''download hog'', but rather don't fit MWEB's ideal profile - ie a user who pays for alot of bandwidth, but uses very little....

Fact is, as Mr. Throttlebug Hershaw admits we all need more bandwidth, we all have more internet dependent devices. To be throttled because of the inevitable was the last straw. I saw a ''degradation'' due to my ''useage patterns'' and am pi$$ed with MWEB for ASSUMING that i was ''hog''. The internet has more utility than just downloading or being a torrent whore, as Hershaw admits.

When MWEB realises what their own CEO thinks he is saying or what the IT guy scripted for him, and does away their draconian rules I too will be pro MWEBber - but until then I share the negative sentiment..... Damned ''hog'' me..... :p

And for the record, I have now - on a few occasions both complimented MWEB for their technical support and have indicated my willingness to return should they get their act together but for now I have upgraded to a better ISP.

Can anyone help me here. I have a 2mb line now, still with a 1mb Mweb "premium" account (unthrottled) and I get the following speedtest.
http://www.speedtest.net/result/3154826801.png
When I start the test it shows good speeds at 1mb then 5 seconds later it drops to 0.20 until it's done which takes a few minutes.
Why would it do this?

MWEB guy I want to move over to capped package. On what day of the month do you suggest I do this or before what day do customers get billed?

Thanks for your explanation. Regardless of ISP, they all have the same challenge: how to best divide the pie.

I am grateful that there are now more ISPs to choose from (some more perfect that others :) )

Good day naasier, normally downgrades are scheduled for the 1st of every month.

Please inbox me your MWEB account details and I will have a consultant call you to explain the process and billing to you.

Good Evening GTtronics, are you doing the speed test with any active traffic on your network?

I would suggest doing a netstat to verify if there are any active traffic running in the background

You have been throttled. go to the My ADSL section on the Mweb page, log in and see what it says or PM Mwebguy your details and he will tell you rather quickly :)
