MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Hi jxharding

If you have an ADSL line installed then you can let me know and I can arrange a 7 day trial account for you to see if it meets your requirements

I think it would be prudent to start letting people know that the trials that MWEB offer are the premium accounts. It may come across as misleading if you supply a trial to someone, and they then make a purchase for a standard account based on their trial (premium) experience.

Fair point.

Just so that you know our premium and standard account works in the same way.

The only difference is the thresholds.

Yes, I understand that. I just think its good to be transparent with people beforehand.

The trial is labelled as a premium product, so people should be aware of that. Though it shouldnt make too much of a difference I guess.

Hi Mweb Guy
You stated a few pages back that the premium and standard accounts were the same, except the threshold. Can I try your patience and have you confirm that this applies to ping (routing and latency) to the EU as well?
With the move from Telkom to 2mbps, I want to change to the 2mbps standard package. Lower threshold will be fine, its just your premium 1mbps from Cape Town has good latency and I don't want this to change.
Thanks

But even you will agree that threshold makes a vast difference. I stand corrected but on a 2mbps standard account it is 70gb to throttle vs 200gb to throttle for the Premium account. That is a big bloody difference in anyone's books. It is worse for the 4mbps accounts who are throttled at 110gb (standard) vs 400gb premium...

Oh this lie again.

Hi GaskooN

The difference between the Standard Uncapped and Premium Uncapped packages are the thresholds limits.

The Premium Uncapped packages has a higher limit compared to the Standard Uncapped. The Standard packages are not suited for the gamers, downloaders, etc.

Yes that is the same too, the premium and standard products works in exactly the same manner.

The thresholds do make a difference as you have put it.

It us highly unlikely that theses thresholds will be hit in the 7 day trial period.

Hi Guys,

Not sure if anyone could answer this perhaps MWEB Guy can. I am on a premium uncapped account, I can see my ADSL line has been upgraded any idea if and when MWEB will be upgrading the premium accounts to match ?

Hi herbertk, there will be no auto upgrade of the premium package as the upgrade from 1Mb to 2Mb premium will have a billing implication to the customer and therefore customers would need to request this upgrade.

I, for one, am loving my new 4mb Premium Uncapped line from MWEB! Getting torrent speeds of 300kbps at decent times; 5.24GB series downloaded overnight; my son has downloaded 2 X 24GB games from Steam (I think) in 3 days; and I've only used 199GB of my 400GB for this 30 day period!

I went to Afrihost once for about 5 minutes (ok about a week to give them a chance to prove themselves to me), as you could do everything online and they do not require you to print, fill out, sign, scan and fax 300 pages of contract like MWEB - EVERYTIME you need to change something on your account - but that just wasn't worth it in the end.

Once they got you signed up, they really don't care if you have issues. I logged a fault ticket with them a couple of times and only got automated responses. Only a week after I cancelled the line did they actually acknowledge my existence and was 'so disappointed to see me leave'.

MWEB is by no means perfect, but much better and equipped than Afrihost, IMHO.

Hey, you should be happy that they gave you such a nice farewell greeting. Some people get much worse treatment from Afrihost's "customer support".

Mweb guy is something wrong with the mweb message centre ,keeps giving error messages
Error! If the error persists, contact 087 700 0777 with this tracking number: 4FE9F4DC
