MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Still no excuse for uncapped... It's still a capped product, or might I say soft capped product :)

While I completely agree with you on the nomenclature, the sad fact is that Mweb is simply playing catchup with the rest of the industry here, which has been called soft capped 'uncapped' since forever. I'm not saying that that excuses Mweb in any way, but that's the sad reality of ADSL internet connectivity in South Africa today.

Really now....

So rest of the industry also:

1) Used costumers as their test base and then calling it "reset account" as the "shaped" went ape****.
2) Throttled the customers first and then give notices calling them abusers.
3) No prior communication given on these changes, it just happened.
4) Made customers accounts unusable during rolling windows sometimes lasting longer than what it should be.
5) Lied and obfuscated about the obvious and still they won't say what the limits exactly is.
6) Had undercover employee(s) registered on the forum.

This is exactly what I've experienced from Afrihost, WebAfrica, Openweb and ODS.

For it is the industry standard!

Some ISPs are different. Some are trying to improve but others just sit there and take the buck and not manage a network how it suppose to be managed... I totally agree with Necuno

[SNIP - unrelated crying]

Could you maybe start a new thread for your teen Mweb angst?

But that has got nothing to do with what you originally said. But really, you should try some of the other ISPs to get a perspective. All the angry trolls keep praising Afrihost, but before moving to Mweb, Afrihost was my ISP. Compared to Afrihost, Mweb is A LOT better. My internet connection is actually usable now!

Again, I'm not saying Mweb is perfect, because they aren't. Far from it. But when you compare them to South Africas other ISPs, this infantile 'wah wah' crying becomes absurd as hell.

So when they were the players playing the ball back in 2008/9 to introduce uncapped services at an reasonable rate, making statements that they adhered to promise keeping the internet open, which led to a campaign like Free The Web (WTF) and open-peering… Only to be denied in 2012, stating turn on turn nonsensical PR. Work your way through the threads detailing this change or policy amendment.

You are telling me that they were backward when they revolutionised the SA broadband industry and are only now realising their mistake and catching up with the rest?

I guess you are new in Zuid Afrique too?

My apologies for letting in a bit of light into the cave. I shall leave it dark, but I've added a big carpet and broom :)

I wish you all the best with Mweb. I glad they have treated you well :D Hope it lasts for you as it didn't for Necuno and myself. Peace. Have a good evening :)

I hope you right... Mweb should still be in business because of you :p ;) All the best with them, I have found my ISP and think I'm staying with them for a long time to come :)

Am I correct in stating that the 4mbps premium uncapped all inclusive adsl bundle price went down from R899 to R769 a month or so ago?

Why is my debit order still 899?

So if forwarded that email to each of their email address seeking answers with "certain defined parameters" nicely bold and highlighted. Here's the reply i got
I think This was same guy that contacted me..LOL...This is a real joke...You will normally receive a mail prior to being throttled stating the following
(heading)
"....Creating a better internet experience for you..." (You will see later why this is a joke)
They continue by stating the following
"......Your usage is currently exceeding these parameters and your connection is placing strain on the network. You will experience slower connection speeds while we manage your bandwidth usage. As soon as your usage patterns stabilise, your connection speeds will return to normal. ..."
MWEB now states that you are putting strain on the network...BUT ...you are paying for a EG..1 of 2Meg speed UNCAPPED service???
wait...its getting better
"..... upgrade to another MWEB package. Based on your current usage patterns, we recommend the following product for you: Click here..."
NOW THEY ARE STATING THAT YOU HAVE TO UPGRADE TO A MORE EXPENSIVE PACKAGE...Thus by paying more you are not putting any strain on the network anymore...LOL

I have left this terrible company, i switched my line to a 4MB package and after downloading 15gb they throttled me! Use to recommend people to them but never will again!!

You sir, need to become an ambassador for change ..... Tell everyone you know about these thieves and TROLL ... Its liberating to know that by steering people away from MWEB you have helped your fellow countrymen ....;)

Oh - and happy New Year Mr, Throttlebug Hershaw ..... Our f.ck The Web guy ....:twisted::twisted:

Well, I left too and relieved that I'm not dealing with these people anymore. Mweb truly sucks and I would recommend to anybody that asks me to stay away from these delusional clowns.

Hi Mweb guy,

By when should we see reduction on our packages as per your website prices?

I still pay R899 for a 4mb premium package that i feel is really a rip off paying more for a product you advertise cheaper on your website.

No, what they are stating is that you relieve the pressure on their bank account. Nothing to do with network.

Hi Vl@d

Due to the difference in cost we can't go ahead and downgrade your package as you also have the option to upgrade to a higher package.

The price you are paying is for the 4MB line + Data and due to the Telkom upgrade we therefore require you to let us know if you want to downgrade to the new pricing package ( Line speed will not be upgraded ) or upgrade.

I don't understand the logic behind this at all since the same package is now cheaper. Line and data!

Could you please be so kind and put me on the right package. 4mb is fine I don't need an upgrade.

I'm confused about this as well?

The cost of the package was lowered from R899 to R769. It's still the same package right? Or is there a difference?

According to your website there are only 5 different premium adsl options:

1 Mbps = R339
2 Mbps = R509
4 Mbps = R769
6 Mbps = R1059
10 Mbps = R1359

I don't want to be crude of anything but I don't understand. The R899 one which I'm stilled billed for, what is that exactly? A 4 Mbps uncapped account like listed above? Or should I interpolate between 4 and 6 Mbps?

This is exactly my concern as well paying R130 more for the same product you advertise on your website.

So all the people not complaining is going to get ripped off and pay more than what they should while Mweb smiles when going to the bank.
