How I wish MWEB would drop that nebulous policy of throttling ... I would be back like a shot, get my FON service, stable network :love:

So my current status is Throttled:mad::confused: , I had a trail account from the 12th of January. It still worked until the 28th of January, and I decided to get a full paying account, the standard 4MB account. During this process, my trail account was upgraded (Technically downgraded...) and I received my FON router. Everything worked the same as before, same performance with the new modem as before.

Now, 11th of February, I'm throttled (About 30 days after signing up for a Trail account). As I understand, I am able to download at least +/- 100 gig in a 30 day window.

This is my current stats:

Total data received for January: 31,958.71
Total data received for February: 46,806.64

Overall totals:

Data Sent: 11,492.23
Data received: 78,765.36
Total: 90,257.58

And:
"Your total usage for the past 30 days: 87.26 GB"

1. This total for the 30 days, does it include upload? And does upload count towards the threshold ?
2. Why am I throttled???? I am in all aspects still under the 100gig limit???.
3. Is the period in witch I used the trail also used for my 30-day limit? This should not be the case? And my trail account was still active after 1 week, it should have been stopped?

I'd move along to somewhere greener, grass Is always green at any other ISP :)

I hated getting throttled over and over again. This is not really uncapped because of the throttling system.

Soft capped - no real tolerance laid out to gauge against ... proven.

Drop the capping ..... aka throttling .... Let sanity prevail at MWEB .... (he says on his hands and knees, hands wringing in the air as his impassioned plea rings out to Derek Hershaw, a tear rolling down his cheek ... wife and kids look on, stunned, confused, thinking WTF??)
 
What is threshold time for Mweb to take to give a call back?

When were you told you would receive a call back? Please PM me the MWEB account details so that I can have a look from our side.
 
Is the Trial 1Mbps line a standard or premium line?

Cause my download speeds seem to be inconsistent.
 
My throttling issue was resolved. New customers line usages are checked 15 days after the contract started, and within my first 15 days, I have already used >50% of my 100gig threshold, meaning that they suspect that I will reach the real threshold before the 30 day mark.

It seems fair, since at the current rate I was going to reach the threshold anyway, and I am upgrading to the premium package at the end of the month.

I have to say that MWEB Guy is by far more responsive then the other MWEB support tools, in comparison to sending an email to MWEB directly. So far I can't complain about MWEB regards to customer service or line speed/downloading issues, except the throttling nonsense.

So my feedback? MWEB is good, only when you stay within your Threshold, or you live In a area where the biggest crime is people parking on a red line and not cable theft.

The trial 1mb account is a premium account.

FYI we do not offer 1Mb standard accounts.

Hi Drukkie, we offer 2 4mb home uncapped accounts standard and premium.

The threshold on the 4Mb premium is around 400Gb

The threshold on the 4Mb standard is around 110Gb

I upgraded from a 4mb Premium Uncapped account to a 6mb Premium Uncapped account, could you tell me whether I still qualify for the free modem, please? :D
 
Hi Guys, I'm currently with Mweb 4Mbps Uncapped (Premium)

I have not issues with speed, I think there is hardly anyone on my exchange as I never drop much further below 430kbps download.
I also assume I am staying under the threshold since my speed never drops.

I don't download but I watch a lot of youtube and do a lot of streaming i.e. Netflix etc and so far I have no problems with Mweb.

However to save money I'm looking at moving to Afrihost, is there any compelling reason to stay with Mweb since Afrihost is cheaper, a lot of people have told me if I'm thinking of dropping to an Mweb standard account I should rather consider moving to Afrihost?

What are anyones thoughts?
 
Was working perfectly yesterday and through the night, now today all of a sudden it randomly restarts itself, not losing connection, no update light flashing, just turns off and on again, it works for maybe a hour or so then restarts. It's not warm or anything like that.

please test with an alternate router, if this resolves the issue.

We may have to replace the router if it is faulty.
