What speeds will I be throttled to
South Africa’s biggest forum. Discuss, discover, and connect with thousands of members.
Thanks,Hi Skandalis.
We do not block any ports and you should be able to make use of VPN connections.
VPN connections are unfortunately outside our scope of support.
When the threshold is reached will I still be throttled outside of business hours?
And what type of speed can I expect?
What speeds will I be throttled to
Speaking from experience. Yes, you will be throttled outside of business hours. Speed is down to about a 384kbs connection, tops.
Twice in the last hour, my connectivity goes dead even though I am still synced. No gmail, no netflix, no news24. Are you guys experiencing an issue. I am on 6meg uncapped.
I'd recommend leaving. Seems you might be throttled? Have you checked for that. I used to have to always check my connectivity and usage to stay within the limit. Was such a pain in the backside
It's just so exhausting having to read comments like this from certain members all the time.
Good luck, and if any of my posts have offended you in any way, please accept my hunblest of apollogies.

Still no FON Router WiFi Extender and new Router barley reaches other side of House which wasn't a problem with previous Billion Router..
Speeds also way down...
Hi AdrianH, has your experience improved ?
I've come to realize that I'm paying too much for my Mweb account.
I'm paying R899 p/m to Mweb for Uncapped 4mb + Line. According to Mweb DSL pricing, this should have been reduced to R769 by now. I'm assuming I'm on the premium uncapped because of the price range.
Do I just have to live with it now, or do I need to remind someone to not bill me so much.
And refund?![]()

If indeed that is the case - simply ignore the comment -
Imagine how frustrating it is for those who have experienced the darker side of MWEB reading the problems encountered by those MWEB customers who are having difficulty.
I can assure you, that some of those ''certain members'' are offering up advice in good faith. Some of those ''certain members'' agree that MWEB have some good points, and some of those ''certain members'' have indicated clearly that should there be a policy shift, they would love to pay MWEB for their service.
I can also assure you, that over the period of six months, via - inter alia - this forum, I have tried - albeit unsuccessfully to communicate to MWEB the frustration caused by throttling, and of course the task of having to find a suitable alternate ISP, all the while explaining that I was indeed happy with MWEB, and would be - if not for a single policy. This has fallen of deaf ears. I can assure you that I am no means alone in this discussion - there are other ''certain members'' who are having this same discussion.
This has leaves MWEB subscribers with three options - viz; 1. Accept that the MWEB account is soft capped at an unknown data quantum and live with it. 2. Pay for an account at a RAnd rate that will exceed you data consumption, but get the advantage of FON, stable network and MWEB store network, or 3. Leave.
For the record, I have found the same as what you mention in your last paragraph, but will be trying an alternate package from an alternate ISP which I believe will be suitable for my needs. On the other hand, should MWEB straighten out their draconian policy of throttling - I would glady pay MORE for their network. I have made this abundantly clear to MWEB.
I shall continue to campaign MWEB to rethink their throttle policy, as it would be my best interest - and I am sure many others to do so.
Good luck, and if any of my posts have offended you in any way, please accept my hunblest of apollogies.
