MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

I've come to realize that I'm paying too much for my Mweb account.

I'm paying R899 p/m to Mweb for Uncapped 4mb + Line. According to Mweb DSL pricing, this should have been reduced to R769 by now. I'm assuming I'm on the premium uncapped because of the price range.

Do I just have to live with it now, or do I need to remind someone to not bill me so much.

And refund? :D

Hi

You are paying R899 because that is what the agreement was upon sign up.

Telkom has now increased line speeds, which means if you want to have the new price you will need to inform us and we will regrade your your line and put you on the new pricing package.

There is no refund due.

It's just so exhausting having to read comments like this from certain members all the time. If you have an axe to grind with MWEB then grind away. I would have appreciated your reply if it mentioned the throttling only. But as it starts with "I'd recommend leaving" just tells me you didn't want to help, but rather give your opinion.

I have tried the other ISP's that have been mentioned, but weekly they had network performance issues, or you can't use their accounts during business hours, or randomly the account crawls to a halt and you get assigned a new account. Frankly I am glad that I am back with MWEB because it's rare they have network issues like last night. It's been even better since the large downloaders have left as well.

I'm sorry if I offended you. It's just from my personal experience I never want to see those days again. Mweb is not a bad ISP, they have a superb network but how they manage it is concerning, A.K.A Throttling after threshold has been reached. That is not fun but everyone is entitled to there opinions and I wish you all the best with Mweb :) I hope you have a lovely day further

If indeed that is the case - simply ignore the comment -

Imagine how frustrating it is for those who have experienced the darker side of MWEB reading the problems encountered by those MWEB customers who are having difficulty.

I can assure you, that some of those ''certain members'' are offering up advice in good faith. Some of those ''certain members'' agree that MWEB have some good points, and some of those ''certain members'' have indicated clearly that should there be a policy shift, they would love to pay MWEB for their service.

I can also assure you, that over the period of six months, via - inter alia - this forum, I have tried - albeit unsuccessfully to communicate to MWEB the frustration caused by throttling, and of course the task of having to find a suitable alternate ISP, all the while explaining that I was indeed happy with MWEB, and would be - if not for a single policy. This has fallen of deaf ears. I can assure you that I am no means alone in this discussion - there are other ''certain members'' who are having this same discussion.

This has leaves MWEB subscribers with three options - viz; 1. Accept that the MWEB account is soft capped at an unknown data quantum and live with it. 2. Pay for an account at a RAnd rate that will exceed you data consumption, but get the advantage of FON, stable network and MWEB store network, or 3. Leave.

For the record, I have found the same as what you mention in your last paragraph, but will be trying an alternate package from an alternate ISP which I believe will be suitable for my needs. On the other hand, should MWEB straighten out their draconian policy of throttling - I would glady pay MORE for their network. I have made this abundantly clear to MWEB.

I shall continue to campaign MWEB to rethink their throttle policy, as it would be my best interest - and I am sure many others to do so.

Good luck, and if any of my posts have offended you in any way, please accept my hunblest of apollogies.

+ 100. Sir I think you on the ball here, please abolish the Throttling Policy MWEB and we will be glad to pay more for your superb network. I mean that in the most sincere way ever possible.

6 and a half hours later, still no connection to the Mweb server ....... for real, this is just stupid

Hi Mephisto_Helix

Please elaborate on the server in question or is it that your router can't connect?

It's just the Mweb server, the free Int one is connecting and grabbing but local is a no no ..... I'll grab a screenie now now

There we go ..... The Mweb connection stays at 0 and has done for the whole day now

No man, not offended at all and apology not required.

Its a tough one with regards to the throttling. I used to download lots from torrents and news servers up until about August last year. Then for whatever reason I had, I decided to begin streaming instead. I started with music on Xbox Music but have subsequently moved onto Rdio. I also started with Netflix on my XBox 360 and now use it on my DroidTV. I actually ended up downgrading from a 4 Meg Premium to a 6 Meg Standard because my monthly use dropped to about 110GB per month and I was under-utilizing my account big time. So for me, availability and performance is my first priority.

What might be a better option is for MWeb is to introduce a new uncapped offering that doesn't have thresholds but also doesn't affect customers like myself that want the 24/7 performance so I can stream?

Hi Guys

Anyone getting this error when they try to login to mweb website?

The email address and password you supplied are invalid. Please re-enter your email address or username and password in the fields below to retry your login attempt.

Now i get a message that my email address isnt registered.

It could be still suspended because the accounts department never seem to receive payment from me and every second month i have to mail through proof.

At MWeb I got throttled for my "abuse", yet my current ISP has no issues with me doing exactly the same usage on their network, as their shaping policy takes care of the fluctuations in demand.

This was exactly the reason I signed up with MWEb as they advertised an UNCAPPED, SHAPED package. Unfortunately, and without prior warning, they introduced their throttling and 30-day rolling window policies.

MWeb also claims that their cap excludes uploading data, yet upon enquiring why I was being throttled (I had not yet reached their theoretical downloaded cap), I was informed by their technician to stop uploading! Never mind the total off-handed attitude towards their paying customers!

Trick/bull**** me once: shame on you.
Trick/bull**** me twice: shame on me.
There will be no third time!

Sigh, now the Int server has been blocked and still no Mweb server ....... come on man

Sorry Supervan II, Mweb haven't really been good to certain clients but I don't believe we alone. A few many hundred people maybe more have been effected by throttling as they tricked into the account being "premium" (such a classy name) and not standard so they can try use the Internet with as much freedom as possible ( because its uncapped) until when throttling takes place :( It's pretty nasty and a really terrible experience, like one can't even browse as most websites time out. Even doing a web search on Google is not possible sometimes. All I want is Mweb Throttling to go away! Please Mweb Guy please speak to your CEO about it. Throttling is not right in the very least.

No worries, going by other folks posting on their FB wall, it looks to be a Durban issue again.
