MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Morning PostmanPot

On the device, mobile, ipad, etc, you need to enable the wifi and search for the @MWEB ssid. You will be prompted for the MWEB username/email and password.

When abroad, if you are a FON subscriber, you can search for a FON signal and login with the MWEB username/email address and password.

Cool, thanks.

Hi Mwebguy, Thanks for helping out this morning.

Quick question what kinda speeds should one be getting with the 10mb line...?

Would this be considered normal?
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3686265048

We'd first need to know what speed your line syncs at. It's an 'up to' 10Mbps service, the main factor resulting in your actual speed is your distance from the Telkom exchange.

You'll need to log in to your modem/router in order to find out. Lastly, Speedtest.net isn't always the best measure.

Here's mine, 10Mbps line syncing at 10Mbps and 20Mbps attainable:

Greetings,
Can any1 tell me what is the threshold on Business lite 2mb account?

Morning Kenny

I'm following up with regards to the question on our side. As soon as I have feedback, I will inform you thereof.

Here you go:

Typically I see 8 - 8.5Mbps results from Speedtests, and downloads peaking at 1MBps/1000KBps, which is higher. Note that this is with a 50GB capped Telkom Internet account. My MWEB Uncapped account is 2Mbps.

I suggest running a few more Speedtests to different local servers. Here's the MyBb Speedtest too - http://speedtest.mybroadband.co.za/.

You can then compare the results with those you achieve with downloads, HTTP and p2p. A good test is the 64MB file here - http://www.saix.net/cgi-bin/speed_test_servers.pl.

I suspect you will see close to line speed results. Good luck!

Hi Kenny

Our Business lite product is unthrottled and shaped for business use during 7am and 5pm. This is however subject to change.

For the moment this product will remain unchanged. We didn’t change it because there are other benefits included like extra 5GB of movie streaming on DSTV.

Hi MDE

I can confirm your line is syncing at 10Mb. I can see the IP on our side hasn't change. I re-authed the account from our side now, leave the router off for 30 minutes and test after that. This is to see if you will be assigned a new IP.

Speedtest.net- CPT

Switched router off for 5min
Phoned Telkom to do a port reset.

No change?
@MWEBGUY - Could you have a look and double check the account profile has changed.

Thanks.

MDE -the package has been upgraded to the 10Mb package.

The IP you have is still the same, even after the router has been off.

Please login to the router and change the username realm to @dslwmeb.co.za. Let me know once that has been done and you run more speedtests.

+1

Or, turn modem off for 20 - 30 minutes, as you mentioned.

Thanks, guess its not working or me then.

Why can non-Mweb customers connect without any login details?

They are able to access the FREE wifi for a limited time.

Are you not able to access the hotspot with your MWEB account details?

Been having really bad download speeds for torrents and usenet since yesterday and I'm not being "throttled" / close to reaching the fair usage limit. What is going on?

I have 4mb Uncapped standard account. Just did a speed test 3687467694.png

Evening, we do not guarantee torrent speeds and they are shaped.

Please provide me your MWEB account details via private message.
