Eish... So is there perhaps maybe possibly going to be a free Fon router promotion again?

To be honest, I can't say if or when we will have another promotion. This call gets made from other departments and we will only when if a decision is made.

Our Business lite product is unthrottled and shaped for business use during 7am and 5pm. This is however subject to change.

For the moment this product will remain unchanged. We didn’t change it because there are other benefits included like extra 5GB of movie streaming on DSTV.

Thank you! There is nothing about dstv streaming on the website. Is there a full description of this product somewhere? Is it possible to test drive it for, say, 24-48 hours? If you will suddenly change this product, will I be able to cancel it without 1month notice?

The 5GB package is on our website. There isn't a test drive period for this package. It is also a month to month package, like the uncapped packages.
 
I'm very confused now. I was asking about 2mb business lite uncapped account...

I am only aware of the trial packages pertaining to the 2MB and 4MB premium shaped, none for business that I am aware of.

I mean, where would I find full description of 2mb business lite uncapped product? you see, on the website there are no info about lets say 5 gb free dstv streaming, just very basic info. What other extras come with 2mb business lite uncapped product?

Moved to Mweb last month and got a 4meg uncapped. Performance was great up until yesterday. Usage for the month is <50gb and when I logged on to my account I see that I am being throttled. Now 'throttled' by any one's definition would be something along the lines of 'reduced speed/throughput'. Currently I am getting speeds no higher than 35kb/s. Even my upload speeds are higher! The bandwidth is so bad my iPhone nor my Mac wants to stay connected to my home network longer than 5mins because they keep telling me there is no internet connectivity!

Are you not able to access the hotspot with your MWEB account details?

No unfortunately it does not connect, so cannot enter account details. Sometimes my phone will prompt for security settings. I'll have to try with another device, it could have just been my phone acting up.
 
My MWEB 2Mb Uncapped trial expired today and I got a call from an MWEB staff member who, based on my usage over 7 days, assumed that I would sign up with them. While I can understand his way of thinking, I was a bit shocked that he judged my willingness to sign up based on the amount of data I consumed during the trial period.

Regardless of the above, I feel I owe MWEB and explanation as to why I chose not to sign up with them.

My first problem is the Outgoing Mail Server. It only failed once during my trial, which wouldn't have been a big deal were it not for the fact that there was no error. The only reason I know it was failing was because the companies I email send an autoreply immediately after receiving an email. This means that MWEB had many users sending emails who are completely unaware that their emails never reached their recipients.

Second was the shaping. It was never unacceptable, actually pretty reasonable, unless of course, you make use of peer to peer networking, which I do. Nevertheless, I can understand why they shape it so strictly, even though I disagree with it.

Third is the threshold. +-70GB's on 2Mb/s is a bit of a joke. What they have there is a soft cap, not an uncapped account, this one was the real deal-breaker for me. And goes hand-in-hand with my fourth and final issue with them.

Price: R199. This is pretty much the same standard price that most ISP's are asking. But what makes MWEB uncapped account better than all of the other ISP's with similarly priced offerings? The answer is nothing, at least for me.

EDIT: Apparently the trial was for 2Mb Premium, not the throttled version, but I assume that over a 7 day period, it shouldn't make a difference.
