MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Dear MWEB Guy,

Please help.
I recently upgraded my account to a 10Mbit Uncapped, but have been experiencing significant connection issues. The DSL keeps disconnecting giving 2 messages:

"Connection could not be established: Concentrator not reachable"

"Your DSL connection is down. Verify that your TG589vn v3 is correctly connected to your phone line. If the problem persists, check your documentation."

The DSL usually re-connects within a minute and then manually reconnecting the internet connection gets everything up and running quickly again. But it usually takes 1-20min (usually while streaming video) and then it does it again. And sometimes it gets worse. At the moment it's only able to keep the connection for 15-20s before disconnecting again.

The problem occurs 100% of the time when streaming video from my google play account. Sometimes within a few seconds from the stream starting. But sometimes working for up to 20min, I don't think it's ever worked for longer without disconnecting.

I'm sending you a PM with my details and the event log from the router.
Hope you can help me solve this very irritating issue.

Thank you!

Please refer to my response to your PM.

You cannot do this. If MWEB manages your line you cannot upgrade only data but must also upgrade the line. Thus if I want to upgrade from my 1 Mbps uncapped Premium package with a 2 Mbps line to 4 Mbps standard uncapped data I must also upgrade my line to 4 Mbps. Just spoken to the sales rep. Best to take your line away back to Telkom and pay the R25 more for line rental and then if I still want to be with Mweb I do it then but not as long as they have my line.
That is correct. You made no mention of your line being with MWeb hence my initial response that you can do that.

Bear in mind that the 2Mbps line with Telkom and 4Mbps uncapped data with MWeb would cost you R404.

An all inclusive 4Mbps line and uncapped package with MWeb would cost you only R449.

The only reason I'm not keen on the latter is that with two kids in the house the increased line speed will no doubt increase data usage and I'll run into soft cap issues again.

MWEB guy: Besides the throttle limits, would there be any difference between 4mbps standard uncapped and 4mbps premium?

I'm on the old 2mbps Premium uncapped + the 4mb line for R599. Only once in the past 12 months have I used more than 100GB's of data. So I'm thinking that the 4mb account would be of more use to me. Saving the R150 is also a bonus.

Hi X-gamer, the only difference is the threshold limit.

the standard and premium accounts works in exactly the same manner

I have checked your account and it is not throttled, give me a speed test result

Thanks for the info, that is rather slow.

Could you please advise how many devices are connected to the router and if there are any other traffic active on the line.
Also if you are connected via WiFi, could you please try to disable to WiFi on the router and connect 1PC via cable to see how the connection is.

Hi there MWEB Guy, something is very dodgy with our connection at work. Every now and then our internet at work is unresponsive and when I log into my router via winbox I see ip's from China and Denmark maxing the upload to over 1mbps, which is very weird considering our max upload is 512kbps. Once I block these ip's our internet is fine again. But yeah in a couple of minutes a new ip comes up and maxes my upload again. What can I do? Can you guys give me a new ip?

Seems to be working fine again after the line re sync.
Thank you

:wtf:

Which modem?

Can you guys give me a new ip?

Sure, turn your modem off for 20 - 30 minutes. Your port will be reset and you'll have a new IP. I doubt that is the issue though.

I'm connected to a 4 Mbps ADSL MWEB connection. Usually the download speed is 3 Mbps or more, but tonight is different, Speedtest through the Cape Town server gives the following results:

Results:
Download Speed: 1554 kbps (194.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 410 kbps (51.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 55 ms
Jitter: 1 ms
1/12/2015, 11:52:32 PM

Any reason for the poor performance?
