MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Internet slow

Internet is ridiculously slow again tonight on all my PC’s.

I wasn’t even able to access Speedtest.net in order to run a speed test. However I did run a Trace Route.. Pings appear to be extremely slow, especially from the second ping.

Suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Using my phones 4G to write this, seeing my ADSL is unusable.

Please PM the land line number in question so that I can look into this for you.

Hey MWeb guy! You guys are being A-holes. I run your 4mb uncapped package and YOUR sales person told me I'll be fine and NOT throttled if I keep my usage at about 110GB per month, which I've done. NOW, AT THE BEGINING pf a month that I already paid for, I need to quickly downlaod a new game (which admittedly is 10GB, but would manage that over the rest of the month), you guys go and bloody throttle me!!! How on earth are we suppose to use legit services like Steam and Origin if you guys punish us for it!?!?!?

What is your usage at after the 10GB download? It would seem to be over 110GB. I don't think the salesperson was dishonest. Are you upset because you thought "around 110GB" meant you could go over?

Plenty ways to get around this, sign up for a free GB account from various ISPs. One/two days and you'll be unthrottled again on MWEB. Or upgrade to 6Mbps Standard or 4Mbps Premium.

Here are the usage limits (stay under them for safe measure):

Hi werntastic

We not punishing you for anything. You can download your Gaming updates, all you need to keep in mind is that the account has a threshold which you were informed of.

Usage monitoring from your side can be done by logging into "My Account" www.mweb.co.za with your primary MWEB email address. The speed limiting will be lifted as soon as you are within the threshold.

Throttling works on a 30 day rolling window ( count backwards ) & not month to month.

Hello,

as the call center only works until 17:00 o'clock and my email from yesterday was not answered yet, I try it here again:

I am client with MWEB with the Uncapped Premium 4Mbit package line + data = R769.

I would like to move my ADSL line back to Telkom. How is the process? How long does it take to move the line to Telkom? Will there be an interruption of service and if so for how long?

If I cancel all my products (data + line) on the 1st of April will the ADSL line be canceled automatically or just moved back to Telkom? If it is transferred to Telkom how long does this process take?

Just gonna leave this here, it's part of a moerse post explaining how they operate.

So we worked hard on our own network deployment that we could control, knowing what our customers use the net for, and when. And have put in place what amounts to the easiest, and most transparent shaping policy around.

No Star rating system (competitor x). No 8.75% torrent and nntp bandwidth limit (competitor y). No throttling (competitor z). And no sharing of accounts or having to embark on saving-face marketing budgets and copying of other ISP's shaping systems (non-entity we laugh at occasionally when doing a competitor matrix). In terms of uncapped, it's the best you're going to get in our opinion in SA.

Let's look at how this now works:

Netflix, Hulu, YouTube - perfect
Twitch - perfect
Gaming - stellar
HTTP downloads - shaped to perfect
NNTP and Torrents - shaped to perfect (burstable even in peak hours)

For a consumer uncapped account, this is what we know 95% of customers really want.

Not sure how this is relevant? Or are you just having a go at MWEB's FUP/throttling?

Just poking for fun. :)

In my opinion an ISP that throttles is near useless. I'll accept shaping of things like p2p, but when RDP acts like PowerPoint it's time to tell 'em where to shove it.

There's been some rough patches with CW, but they actually seem to care about their customers and don't consider us abusers.

The answer to this question shouldn't be too complicated... Why am I ignored by MWEBs customer service? Sent an email more than 48 hours ago, no response so far. Same here. Do any of the users know more?

Apparently, support is not given to people who intend to cancel the subscription with MWEB. Well, this only reinforces my decision.

I can help you here somewhat.

Do what I did. Login to your mweb account online

If you want to keep your mweb email address temporarily then sign up for R40 dial up access

then go to my products

Then next to adsl and adsl line click cancel and CANCEL that product

After 1 month starting from the next 1st of the month (i.e March 1st 2015)

April 1st the product will be cancelled and your line will revert to Telkom

Go to openweb or even telkom and choose one of their superior adsl packages and sign up!

DO IT NOW!

Mweb are a rip off and obviously have too much dead weight to reduce their prices.

The best part is that they are trying to push their hotspot routers on everyone when they are losing marketshare.

I'm just going to leave this here...

2Mbps
MWeb standard R199
Crystal Web R349

4Mbps
MWeb standard R239
Crystal Web R429

Hmm. What do these rough patches entail? Also, they're new aren't they, I'll wait to see what happens when they realise the model is not sustainable when all the abusers arrive

But I'm all for competition. It helps all us consumers in the end. I do like their free premium news server access. I was rather annoyed when MWeb decided to stop there's recently. A value add service lost.

Hi Capek, I am sorry to hear you want to cancel. Is there perhaps anything I can do to make you reconsider ?

You can online to do the cancellation, our cancellation team will then contact you and then you can notify them to move your adsl portion to Telkom

He MWEB guy, thanks but this is still not the answer to my question. I would like to know how long it takes you guys to transfer my line back to Telkom once it is cancelled. Will this happen immediately, is there an interruption of service?

Reason is that I rather want to move to a faster capped line (10 mbit) because I don't use 400 GB a month that I could with MWEB premium uncapped 4mbit. There are better offers out there, faster line for less money.

Yes it can happen as soon as our cancellations team picks up the cancellation request

@MWEB Guy

I want to change from Uncapped to Capped. Can I do it online, or must I contact somebody at MWeb?

Thanks

Hi

I'm certain that you should be able to do so online but if you would like, I can arrange for a consultant to contact you.
PM me your contact number and the product you wish to change to, I will then have them contact you.
