MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

I've been having similar issues for the past few days... intermittent internet problems... sometimes things are fine, sometimes horrific, sometimes there is just no internet at all. Today has been completely terrible from an online gaming perspective: frequent disconnects, frequent periods of 5-40 seconds of no connection to the server (but not being disconnected) and the rest of the time it's been very hit and miss as to whether the game will respond to my keystrokes in under 5 seconds. Since around 4pm this afternoon, I have been completely unable to login to the game at all, despite multiple modem restarts etc.

Mweb has been good to me since I took them on as an ISP, and I've been exploring the possibility of upgrading my 4mb to a 10mb line. However, online gaming is important to me... and if the "performance" of the last few days continues, I will have to reconsider my ISP.

Which game, also mention platform, are you struggling with? If possible, please perform traceroutes to the gaming server in question and share the results. Alternatively, traceroutes to the following website should be okay for testing purposes as well.

Local site: mweb.co.za
International site: bbc.co.uk

So i noticed my internet was unbelievably slow today, tried restarting my router and calling telkom and everything. Then i give mweb a call, im throttled. Fair enough, ive been hitting my line fairly hard. But has the throttling policy changed?

When i was throttled before, my games still ran relatively fine, my youtube and browsing was terrible. But getting 15,000 MS in world of warcraft is just... disgusting. i honestly cant believe a game that uses so little bandwidth is being throttled at hard...

I Understand you have a FUP or AUP or whatever they are called these days, but surely this needs to be revised regarding BASIC things that require next to no bandwidth. Im having to now buy another ISP prepaid account as a result of the over the top shaping/throttling..

Thanks, i think.

Telkom's bad too. Fair point but I trust you're using a free GB from another ISP, or topped up your backup account.

As soon as your 30 day rolling window falls below the threshold limit, you'll be back to full speed. The beauty of throttling instead of soft capping which is till month end.

Hi darryn

Drop me a PM if you still having trouble with your connection.
Also let me know if it's only gaming you having trouble with.

GG Streaming Twitch TV on High on a 4 Mb uncapped premium. Switch to Afrihost and its smooth as butter.. No I have not exceeded the rolling window. No a Speedtest to the Rosebank server is not going to make SFA difference. "we'll get back to you tomorrow"

Hi

Please let me know if you still having trouble with your connection or if it has improved.

Morning,

Been experiencing slow connection for past couple of days.

- Browsing is slow and on occasions times out.
- Streaming is a buffering mess.
- Work database usually took 20 seconds to connect, now takes 5 mins or just hangs.
- Online radio which uses about 10kb/s cuts out.
- Skype/VOIP quality is bad with stuttering and cut outs.

Mweb has reset port twice.
