Please test the streaming using google DNS's and let me know if that helps, when using the MWEB account.

Also provide me screenshots of the speeds you are obtaining via Steam. (For escalation purposes)

MWEB Guy. Earlier on I provided a screenshot of the speeds via steam http://i.imgur.com/bzjXzWn.png But here is a longer graph of the network usage.

As for the google DNS. No change in the streaming on YouTube. Its the same. And I prefer not to use Google's DNS anyway.

In the above, we can see that latency spiked with FNB Connect, you also had a timeout pinging Google with Afrihost (this could just be crappy Afrihost though).

I would continue monitoring, keep that -t running overnight, or for 5 minutes, 10 minutes, an hour, etc.

I still suspect some sort of line/equipment fault, though not convinced. As bizarre as it sounds, just because other ISPs work better, does not mean the ISP not working as well is at fault. Strange things can happen, particularly if in different regions, etc.

Please go to Home Network > Interfaces > click on Local Network > Configure (top right hand corner) > Edit next to DHCP pools and the DNS should be set to 0.0.0.0

Change the primary DNS to 8.8.8.8 and let me know if that makes any difference

Will Monitor it Tx.

The Latency Spike and Time Out only happened on one or two occasions..

Strange though the Loading Progress bar in GMAIL and Google Services etc. loads much quicker on the other ISP's

Running crappy Afrihost Capped Test at the moment and seems better than the MWEB at the moment..

Suspecting the crappy FON Router.. As well...

Are you using browsers other than Chrome?

Just an update on my issue MWEB Guy. My Steam downloads are going at max now =] Will continue to monitor it and see how it goes through the night.

You need to run a tracert when pings are high.
 
I have to ask - why, if Mweb hosts the Steam servers in Johannesburg and the dota 2 game servers, then why is my access to it throttled? I am, after all, accessing my own ISP's network. Is internal data really that expensive?
