Hi Kitty09,

Please advise if you are experiencing slow local or international? What is your current speed at the moment?

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

Hey!

The problem with StarCraft 2 is that it takes way too long to download a map (Each map is about 1 MB). Is it being heavily shaped during day?

I can download any stuff via normal http at full speed. My browsing speed is fine.

Sc2 maps do take a bit of time when I download them with 1Mbit uncapped.

I will follow up with our gaming admins regarding StarCraft 2 and once I receive feedback, I will notify you thereof.

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

Thanks man :D It usually takes about 15 seconds or faster for a map to be fully downloaded on my 384K line during day.

When I play a custom game vs one AI, the game lags slightly.

I ran a trace route to Europe Battle.net network.

How does it look?

Important : The Battle.net realms are protected from unsolicited traffic and attacks, all the hops after reaching a certain point in our network will return a time out message such as 'Request Timed Out' or 'Destination Unreachable'. For troubleshooting purposes, any hops after reaching our network can be safely ignored.

Our realms use the following addresses:

Asia - gblx.net (for example: POS1-3-155M.cr2.SEL2.gblx.net)
Europe - teliacarrier.com (for example: 213-248-106-204.customer.teliacarrier.com)
USEast - attens.net (for example: mdf1-bi8k-1-eth-2-1.wdc1.attens.net)
USWest - attens.net (for example: mdf2-bi8k-2-eth-1-1.rwc1.attens.net)

All I want to do is be able to log in to my SC2 account instantly and play any SC2 game online without any problems.

UPDATE: Now I can't log in to my SC2 account (In-game) :(

UPDATE 2: Now it's working :)

Hi Kitty and PostmanPot,

The feedback I received from the gaming admins is that the maps are determined by the players as to how fast the map downloads, as its distributed in a p2p system. It seems the issues with the maps are within the game and is not in our control.

For further information about this, you can click on the link

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

Something is up, the ping on everything just shot through the roof. Could be Telskum but I just wanna get feedback from other Mweb peeps before I'm subjected to the horror of a Telskum call centre

Same here. There is something really wrong at the moment. It took me five refreshes to open this website. All my other websites are just stuck in "loading". Everything has slowed down to a crawl.

No problems on my capped axxess account.

Oh I see! Thanks for the info :)

Yeah the ping on my line is pretty bad as well today I think they might be doing something, it makes gaming impossible but guess I could go outside and stuff lol.

Hopefully it's sorted soon. :)

Got this today

"Your current ADSL usage pattern shows repeated instances of prolonged download sessions at line, or near line speeds which is placing an undue burden on our network and is not in keeping with our Acceptable Usage Policy."

and was just wondering, how is one supposed to limit the download rate of ones household or does MWeb expect me to downgrade to a 512KB line on a 4MB Uncapped account? Damn steam sale...

Normal usage should not result in such a warning. The warning is a result of how you are using your line, not how much you are downloading. Bypassing shaping or downloading large amounts of data over an encrypted link are just two examples.

Id wish theyd be more specific then as afaik all that was used was P2P, YouTube and Steam... If someone was using a VPN etc then it was not me!

Yup, already did so and thats the reply they gave me...

Hi OtakuD,

I would suggest contacting the abuse department again and asking them for a detailed explanation.

kind regards,
MWEB Guy

My one 4096 account was canceled by Abuse for using a VPN connection for half a day to the UK for my brothers work... He used 100MB and that was considered Abuse and bypass of shaping...

Mweb's AUP are very vague and unfair at the best of times.

From previous comments posted here, I was given to understand that abuse notifications were only considered after prolonged/excessive usage in contravention. I'm surprised that 100MB on one day is "enough" to trigger a warning.

Abuse say they sent me previous emails, but i never received any, then i received an email say my account would be terminated at midnight. How could i have received the last email and not the first two i don't know.

At least they let me sign up again, although i sat for 3 days without internet....

I got 2 of their warnings. Seems if you are constantly downloading day and night, then you will get such a warning
