MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Yesterday was ok till last night when it jumped back to 150ms average ping.

I have been calling them everyday since before Christmas.

What I know is:

They started working on the exchange since beginning December.
In that time latencies has been sh*t. Anything from 100ms to 600ms to a local server.
When the exchange behaves it self there are some latency spikes that occur.
They dont have a tentative ETA when it will be fixed.
They are getting fed up with me since I have been calling everyday lol
Today there was a secondary problem that occurred at the exchange. Power failure or something.
They say they are doing upgrades and adding dslams.

Sigh I want my stable connection back before Uni starts :(

I laugh at these pings

MWEBGUY, would it be possible if you could try to find out more for us regarding this problem in Sinoville?

Would be awesome if he could find out something about that. Telkom rarely gives useful feedback to me.

I can't promise anything guys, but I can see what information can be gathered regarding the exchange.

Kind regards,

Getting some bad packet loss again in DDO ... everything else is cool.

Hi Mephisto_Helix,

Your line readings are good, account seems fine. Is it only with DDO that you are getting packet loss, any other games?

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

I reckon it's either some jittery International something or other or the DDO servers themselves. Did a ping test and it's fine -

Edit - FB takes ages to load, only site so far I've come across, will check other sites and report back.

Thanks for the GZ link, bookmarked :D

Hi

I got an email from Mweb about abuse. I added a bunch of stuff to my download q before we left for holiday. It was basically just enough to complete over the weekend. Well, the scheduler failed and the downloads run during the day, which I normally avoid at all costs.

I responded to the email, and got an automated response that they will get back to me within 24 to 48 hours. Never heard back from them btw.

We went home and the q was empty. I restarted the scheduler and added a couple of things before we left again. Again, just enough to finish over the weekend.

We stopped by my house again a week later and basically, very little of the stuff actually download.

Herewith the problem, according to my logs and my Mweb stats, I have downloaded gigabytes in that time, yet nothing of the stuff was downloaded. No this confuses me.

I would really like not to be on the wrong side of mweb. I am very happy with them. I restrict my downloads to after hours. What happens now?

Hi straatkat,

The best will be to make contact with our Abuse department again. Please keep in mind that there was public holidays.

Have you read through our AUP?

Please also PM me your MWEB account details and I'll also look into it from my side.

Regards,

MWEB Guy

Is there any known issue today? My MSN drops every 20 seconds, and webpages time out/wont load.

Hi Stewie,

Please provide me with your MWEB account details.

Have you tried clearing your browser cookies and temporary internet files and maybe a different browser just to see if the problem persists?

Regards,

MWEB Guy

I wish telkom would just hurry up and fix what ever they broke. Its so annoying not being able to download properly or play any games.

Did Mweb just die? My ADSL line is sync'ed but I have no local or international connectivity whatsoever.

Hi XennoX,

We have no major reported outage for JHB nor your area.

Have you tried rebooting as I'm not picking up your router connection.

I have refreshed your MWEB account & recreated the Telkom port.

Regards,

MWEB Guy

Yes I have done so. Got off the line with Telkom about 15 minutes or so ago. Apparently the exchange's data-link (if you could call it that) is dead.
