I'm having this intermittant connectivity problems and cant really browse 5 mins without the connection dying on me. Windows wireless icon shows that I have full connectivity but occasionally it gives me the no internet access icon. Mostly I'm recieving, "DNS server not responding", "Could not resolve name" errors.

MWEB Guy helped me out yesterday when my connection was totally dead but its unusable in this state. Little help MWEB Guy?

Hi Nospheratu,

Does this only happen when you connect wireless? How is the connection via cable?

When 1 connects wireless and the icon says signal strength "excellent" that does not mean the data transfer over a wireless connection is going to be the same.

The are many factors that play a role that could bring about poor wireless connectivity.

Do you have DNS's assigned?

I've just tried direct a direct connection with cable and am experiencing the exact same issue.

I haven't set any DNS's on any of my machines or the router/modem.

Diagnosing the problem within windows says the DNS isn't responding.

Hi Nospheratu,

I have refreshed your MWEB account. Please reboot PC & reset the router but make sure you know your MWEB email address password.

Then configure the router with the following --> user: guest@telkomadsl / pass: guest

Go onto www.telkom.co.za

Browse and do a download and see what happens.

Thanks again MWEB Guy :) Everything is working again :) All I did on my end was reset the router and enter my mweb account details, so the refresh that you did must have done it. Thanks for the oustanding service man. Its much appreciated.

Got this today as the reasoning behind my account cancellation on the 31st:

"You may not restrict, inhibit or interfere with the ability of any person to access, use or enjoy the Internet or the any services, or create an unusually large burden on our network, including, without limitation, continuously uploading or downloading streaming video or audio; continuous FTP uploading or downloading, or otherwise generating levels of traffic sufficient to impede others' ability to send or retrieve information, or to use the services in an abusive manner in connection with any unlimited packages, options or promotions."

So in other words it was cancelled because my family's YouTube and streaming habits were too high... Kinda just tells me "this is uncapped, but please dont use it to its full potential, and we will not officially give a figure as to what levels it should be used either"... Guess its back to OpenWeb...

Thanks MWeb guy, this is my 3rd response from them and the clearest answer Ill get it seems.
 
Anybody in the Rondebosch / Rosebank region having problems with their ADSL connections ? Everything was working fine this morning but it suddenly died. The router syncs but I am unable to make a PPPOE connection.

Please put some pressure on telkom regarding the Sinoville Exchange.

That exchange has been giving problems since December and still has not been fixed. Tell them allot of your subscribers are having problems with that exchange and you want answers.

Plleaaasseeee! I'm at the end of my rope :(

This exchange is making me crazy as well. It's been a couple of weeks since I've been able to enjoy BF3 since my ping averages between 250 - 350.
At the rate they are "fixing" the problem, it might be faster to move to a different area :(
