ok sure will do. After browsing around a bit more it's definitely a problem with international connectivity and not local... Mybb and other local sites are blitzing but international sites are taking forever to load...

It refuses to test latency and packet loss, just says test skipped... But anyway!

Here's to Cape Town:

Download Speed: 936 kbps (117 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 522 kbps (65.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: -1 ms

And London:

Download Speed: 782 kbps (97.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 152 kbps (19 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: -1 ms

Weird, cause that test result to London isn't bad, yet I still get timeouts with traceroutes and things are loading slowly.

Telkom update: "Your suspicion is correct, DSLAM is congested, I have linked this fault to the network fault."

So seems to be deeper lying issue to resolve in my area.

Have seen improvement since..but not 100% yet.
Tx for your support during this time.
Makes sense with the traceroute logs i was submitting.

Hi everyone, hoping you can help.

I'm struggling to understand my Mweb Billing. Someone from Mweb Billing phoned and explained the billing concepts to me, but I don't understand how they've come to the amounts. Maybe someone who's done the same thing recently can let me know how this works.

I was on 384k DO @ R219 - on 18/01/2012 I upgraded to 1024 AI @ R588.

This is a screengrab of the recent billing section, I really don't understand how the amount of R754.65 has been reached. No matter how I work it out, I can't get to that value.

So up until the 18th, I owed 219. The amount now reflects 754.65 for the next debit order.
From a Pro-Rata point of view, up until the 18th I owed 127.16 Pro Rata (219/31*18). From the 18th till 31st, I owe 246.58 (588/31*13) meaning that for 2012/01 I should owe 373.74, which is well below the 754.65 amount. I then read that Pro-rata is this months + next months, but 373.74 + 588 = 961.74.

Am I dense for not being able to figure this out?

To be honest I think I need a Kindergarten teacher to explain it to me. I just don't seem to be clicking, and was hoping someone else who did this recently can explain it from a consumer point of view.

From what I see they credited you for the previous 384k billing and then billed you for your theoretical i.e. partial 384k mtd usage and then billed you for the rest of the month for you 1024k line.
As well, it looks like they doing the line rental bit now whereas previously it wasn't part of your account?
 
They're now doing Line Renal as well at R588 All-Inclusive. I just don't understand how the amount was come to. Just to re-focus on the point:

Hmmm... then something isn't right. I've personally never had (touch wood!) any billing issues with mweb and I've previously upgraded from a 384k line to a 4meg one. My line is still with Telkom though.
