I have tested this on our test PC and I am not able to access this site. I have also tested this with a 3G connection and no response from the website.

Regards
MWEB Guy
Thanks. Great service as usual.

Ok Telkom did send me like 3 smses to tell me my line have been re-tested and was testing fine. So problem can't be on Telkoms side

Do not be to sure. Their view of fine compared to what is acceptable may be 10 different things. They could mean your line tests fine for voice yet it may be bad for data!

I know so how do I get them to properly test it? I'm getting so angry cause no one is doing anything helpful to resolve this issue. Telkom tells me everything is fine and so do MWEB so how come my line still drops. Even when I changed my router. This is BS.

I'm paying for something that I'm not getting. I'm so angry now I will at the end of the month cancel my ADSL and also my Account. Will rather get some wireless internet cause people are of no use. FFS fix this problem I don't care what you do.

That's the sad part. One way to deal with the issue is to transfer your line to Mweb then it ultimately becomes their responsibility. Another is to ask Telkom for a clean or data line. They can send a tech to check your line physically with equipment and change it for "better copper" if required and if they have lines available with the specs.

I phoned Telkom last week at a client, ran through test with 3 different people, all said the same thing, the line is fine.
Then my boss called, spoke to a 4th person and the said the line was faulty.
3 - 1

2 days later, Telkom came, did their thing and bam the ADSL worked.

Never trust those people on the phone, 90% of them are stupid or if not stupid, don't know what the hell they talking about.
The other 10% do know what they are talking about and have probably been scooped up by companies thus leaving the stupid ones behind.

Meh the way to determine fine is a bit variable and the call centres can't access everything you might need to test :P

Case in point,my 2nd line is acting up
Sync - quick,4.4Mbps downlink
ADSL connection - quite snappy to connect
Browsing? Hit and miss, strangest thing, traceroutes are fine even, some things just will NOT load

Current suspect: Line attentuation causing some weird losses, will update when telkom comes again tomorrow

Get a 1gig PPPoE acc with afrihost for testing, connect it and see if they drop simultaneous or not

My internet just dropped again.

Hi nelis,

Thank you for the addditional information. I do believe the relevant department is in contact with you regarding the query. I will pass this on to them as well.

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

Ok I will be using another account tomorrow and test. If it doesn't disconnect then the problem is with MWEB

Im having problems streaming off twitch.tv.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Hi Bar_Rat,

Please advise if its only a problem with twitch.tv you are having a problem with, or are there other sites as well?

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

ok so my line dropped again. one of my friend that stays in jhb asked me if my interenet also dropped. He is in JHB and I'm in Pretoria so it can't be my adsl line now.

So your line dropped with the other account you said you'd be testing?

no not dropping with that account yet. but will test for 2hr and if ok I will say it's mweb. but still do you get my point. 2 people drop same time and we not even close to each other

Statistically speaking the likelihood of only 2 people having the same connection issue in different cities is almost nonexistant :)
Both my Mweb lines have had no hiccups today, minor packet losses ( 3% )

Have you checked if your ADSL line is desyncing or the router is accessible during these downtimes?

my router is accessible at that times and the telkom guest account is working fine but not the MWEB account.

I did swap routers. even changed my line from g.dmt to adsl2+ nothing worked
