MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Not sure what you had to print out and fill in?

All I did was take a photo of my ID and utility bill with Cam Scanner (droid), and upload the pdfs. Well, I uploaded my id shot during sign up, but the utility bill I sent later via email.

No idea. Was a form that the consultant had mostly already filled in that I just had to sign.

I just have multiple issues with having to provide proof of residence. ALL of my bills (utility and otherwise) go my post box.

It annoys the bejebus out of me when companies want proof of residence and ask me to scramble to find something they're prepared to accept.

At least it is once of thing, you have to do this unfortunately due to fica/rica. The isps that doesn't isn't really in accordance.

Sure, but look: the phone number connecting to my account isn't going to change. Telkom are fully aware of the location using it. It's not like it's difficult to track me down. I have stated what my address is, if they want to verify it they are more than welcome to.

But when you rent, you generally have a post box so that you actually GET your mail/bills, especially should you move (which, as a renter, tends to happen every year or two).

I just consider it a fruitless, tedious and unnecessary aggravation.

But beyond that... I really dislike having to print stuff out, sign it, scan it back in and send it back. It's a waste of my time, paper, ink and patience :p

But yes, it's just a once-off thing. Until I cancel. Then I have to do it all over again (print form, sign form, scan form, send form back).

This is a really draconian process and is the biggest drawback to using Mweb.

So again, kudos to WebAfrica and Afrihost for getting at least that much right.

I signed up last week, started using it late Saturday night. After being on WA uncapped, this is an absolute pleasure.
So can you imagine how I must have felt. I haven't had decent internet since I moved in September last year. This was the first weekend to properly use it (last weekend was hectic due to kids' birthday parties and stuff).

I get almost 1MBps upload speed, on Cybersmart the router says its synched at 512, I get nowhere near that in fact GamCo's speed test gets stuck, sometimes hangs the browser because the upload speed is nonexistent. Try sending e-mail with that kind of problem, your e-mails just don't go through.

Well worth the effort of getting a new line... and a new ISP. Solved a great many problems.

This is a really draconian process and is the biggest drawback to using Mweb.
Unfortunately I have had to do that:
With Cybersmart
With MTN
With getting my car financed
With my current lease

Its a symptom of the ANC and its idiotic laws (FICA and RICA), nothing we can do about it, so blaming MWEB for this is incorrect.

Be thankful this isn't home affairs.... You don't have to stand hours on hours outside. I did lol when I read

Oi... Don't compare my new ISP to Home Affairs! *shudder*

And yeah, you know me by now. I will bounce around ISPs until I find the perfect one :p

My only loyalties are to great performance, excellent service and reliability.

Things have been feeling a bit 'sticky' the past couple of days, and torrents haven't been performing in the manner which caused me to gush earlier.

It's almost as if a link in my internet chain has the flu or something.

I wonder whats up; this is the first time in months I am having issues; can't really complain as its been working fine. I am starting to wonder if Telkom's network is being dodgy again

Hi Guys,

Let me know if the issues persist and I'll look into it from my side.

Kind regards
MWEB Guy

Hi Guys

I'll run some test from my side and see what sort of speeds I get.
Have you tried rebooting your router yet? Just to see if it makes any difference.

Kind regards
MWEB Guy

I think my router is broken, as I'm still needing to reset it several times day sometimes, and no, it doesn't help. :D

Also experiencing slow speeds here.
My line is synced at 10mb, I have an uncapped 4mb account from mweb.
My speeds flat line at 110kB/s though.

Hi Guys

I did some test on my side things seem to be running pretty normal.
Please PM me your account details and the general issue you're having.
I'll then look into it from my side and see if I can find anything that may be causing the problem.

Kind regards

Hi Mweb Guy

All seems to be running fine again; Steam back to normal and so is browsing.

Thanks

looking good my side. 3.85 mb down and 0.36 up on speedtest.net

getting good transfer on p2p and good latency in aion as well.

keep it up mweb

Currently combating with a user control panel (two, in fact, because I have two separate ones now, regardless of requesting that my old one be kept) issue. The one shows my billing details; the other shows my ADSL usage. Neither shows both...

At least the connectivity has been a resounding success so far. Now just to wait for consultant to sort out my control panel...

Why does nothing ever go smoothly?
