I had 2x XS accounts (no idea why). Added a third now, so got 75GB free a month for older stuff (just grabbed a 400-day binary) and it's working great.
No idea as to why some people are having issues with slow nntp speeds, unless of course they're trying to grab uncached content.
 
Hi All

Mweb Guy I must say my torrent downloads are not bad at all I got over 400 K last night, and this is on a line that it not well at all, looks like telkom is fixing some stuff around here, from the beginning of the weekend my line synced at 4Mbps for the first time in a month or so... so things are look up on this side...

Has your speeds increased ? Remember torrent speeds are not guaranteed it is a best effort service.
 
Well steam and torrents are both looking better today than yesterday. Yesterday was not good at all, especially for a Saturday.

Torrentz still hover around 200K but worse is your News server....whats up with 39K ?

For educational / testing purposes - can anyone else try this nzb?

It's not cached on the Mweb server. Probably no one else that tried to grab it.
 
Just a quick question...

What exactly is the difference between a shaped/unshaped account?

Will a unshaped 1mb give me better latency/ping than a shaped account? I get that shaping happens certain times of the day and for certain things but will unshaped give me a better ping than shaped?

Not worth the extra $$, gaming gets top priority on shaped accounts so i very much doubt any difference in ping imo.
 
I went from 384kbps to 1mb line and the ping dropped by around 30 or so...

Wonder if its even worth me getting a 4mb, doubt ill get 4mb in this little town

Hi Handz

Shaped: priority is given to certain ports

Unshaped: All ports are equal

Yes, you will get better latency/pings on a shaped account as Gaming is given high priority on our Network.

Because it has to be drawn from international sources. It's not uncommon for caching to be slow from international to local servers. You'll get the same with IS/SAIX/WA servers.
