What would make sense is having the 1MB data package regardless of whether you have a 384KB or 1MB line on all inclusive. The two being the exact same price and all.

As in still being billed for the 384 all inclusive, being on a physical 384 line but with a 1MB data package.

Ahh, they did that automatically for everyone though =p, at least for me they already did

Hi MWEB Guy

Could you please explain to me something!!! Okay so our neighbours have 56db attenuation and lower snr stats than our but they are getting 5mb? Now we are on 57.5 and you cant get us up to 4mb? Even the attainable rate shows 4500kbps

Please explain because this is absolute rubbish! And we have tried multiple routers

Hi oliverwww,

The lines will perform differently thats a given, there may be faults on your line/cable that your neighbour may not have.
Also the attenuation limitations/guide lines are provided by Telkom and there is no assurance that it will work better at 56 than it does at 57.5db.
Thats why if your attentuation is higher than normal, it is almost certain that you will suffer from a degraded service.
However as you say your neighbour has no problems, he may just be fortunate that his problems have not surfaced yet.

Have you tried connecting with your neighbours account at your place and vice versa?
If so, what was the result?

What's the generally accepted method of testing speed? Speedtest.net ?

Hi nadimm

If you can, log into your router with the Telkom guest account.
user - guest@telkomadsl
pass - guest

Then log on to saix.net and click on the speed test icon.
Click on the server nearest to you and you should get some very accurate speeds. ;)

Regarding my earlier usenet speed issue, the 1st came by and boom!, speeds back to normal. Interesting.

Hi MWEB Guy!

No not at the moment but I will try with my aunts account! She is on 10mb so we might see a difference :D

But it still bothers me ? I dont see why you guys cant like stabilize it at 4mb when the attainable rate is 4500kps?

From what I can see on my side, your line profile is set to stabilize at 4Mbps.
I have just checked this to confirm, however I also see the line is only syncing at abouot 3Mbps.

Hi Mweb Guy.

I bought some games off Origin and the downloads are going at 20kb/s. I have provided some Traceroutes below.
