MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Hi MwebGuy

I'm having a similar problem as fluke, after running a speed test on the mweb speed test site.

Download Speed: 5346 kbps (668.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 523 kbps (65.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: -1 ms

I'm unable to watch any live streams for the past few weeks now, its been from being able to watch 2x720p streams to being unable to watch anything else(not even 280p). Also losing connection for a couple of seconds once every two hours or so.

Evening Blaupunkt, please provide me your MWEB account details via direct message.

Thanks for the feedback, please reconfigure your router with the incorrect details; then the correct details. I would like to see if your problem persists when connecting with a new IP.

Done. But no joy.

Should I expect 1024 kbs on a 1meg line?

EDIT: Its a little faster. Still not 1meg fast.

Download Speed: 519 kbps (64.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 423 kbps (52.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 27 ms

These speed test results are an improvement. Was there any active traffic on your network when you did the speed test?

Please provide me tracers to mweb.co.za and bbc.co.uk.

Don't exactly know what you mean. But here goes. Should I be posting these here?

The Tracers seem normal. Besides your speed test, which traffic is most affected by slow speeds?

Http mostly, streaming, youtube (an sd video doesn't stream), normal downloads. Just checked. Torrents average at 70 kB/s. I've seen intermittent peaks of 90 kB/s. Usenet (mweb) averaging 45 kB/s.

Anything up with anyone else tonight? Getting jitter and packet loss again. Just wanna see if it's just me or a few of us.

Torrent speeds seem very good. Did you check your usenet speeds with the Torrent paused? Also how many devices are connected on your network?

Good evening Mephisto_Helix

There is currently an outage in your area:

Telkom ADSL services in the Reservoir Hills ( 031 - 262 ) area will be Inaccessible due to a DSLAM - Network Fault problem.

I have activated sms notification for when the fault is resolved.

Saddens me that my service provider has more clue than Telscum ........ but in a good way saddens, if you know what I mean, lol.

Thanks Mweb Guy.

PS - have you guys thought about infiltrating your staff into Telscum? Would make things better for all of us all round :p

Hi Mweb Guy
Speeds are fine, so no need to worry.
Do have a question though. Doing a bit of a case study on p2p, if you want to call it that. Using a well seeded torrent from a private tracker and I've ensured that seeders are capable, etc.

This closely resembles what I've been seeing the last two weeks. During the week too.
Speeds would be better during the day, or from 3am-9am during the (week) day than other times, this now excluding busy times such as 5-10pm. On Monday, for instance, I managed to max out my line for an hour or two... and that was somewhere from 8am - 11am. During the same period, I was unable to max out nzb's :D

There's a disease there that turns your brain to mush. So send an Einstein and you'll receive a vegetable back ;)

Evening froot

That is interesting... Very interesting... Could be that there are more people downloading in the early hours of the morning and less during the day.

I will pass the information along though.

i shall but Telkom are only installing my adsl line on Thursday. Thats the date they have scheduled my installation after 2 weeks of waiting. So if your consultant phones after that time then i shall try this option out
