Hey

I recently signed up for the mweb uncapped 4mb account and im having huge issues browsing certain webpages. I cannot pages like MYBB , facebook, hotmail and many more but there are certain pages i can browse , when i try open the page my browser says website found waiting for response but it never opens the page.

I have logged calls with mweb but even they cannot seem to help me, i would be so gratefull if anyone has any information on how to solve this.

same here :/ fb etc takes ages sometimes..

i find pullin out the phone line for 5 sec then putting it back in to re-connect usually works..

Yeah, that definitely sounds like a DNS problem, have you manually specified DNS servers in your router / computer?

Which DNS servers are you using?

0I asked the mweb techie for the dns settings but they insist i keep it on auto, i tried the IS 168.210.2.2 / 168.14.239.2 and it doesnt help , If i log into my afrihost account i can access any page without problems so i doubt its the browser giving trouble, but i will try firefox to eliminate that possibility.

Yeah, auto should be correct.

I upgraded from MWeb capped to Mweb uncapped. Was using 196.25.255.34 and 196.25.255.3. Some sites were not opening. The option to obtain automatically was greyed out. So they told me to enter my router address as proffered and 196.25.255.3 as alternate. Things seem 100% since then. Also check your proxy settings.

Why make another mweb thread? Post your problems in the 'Feedback thread' sigh!

Im on 4mb, have not experienced any issues yet. Must be a PEBKAC problem

This type of reply is the exact reason i created another thread!

maybe your route table is all screwed up? have you used a program like route sentry in the past? if so disable your network interface card then re-enable it.

if that doesn't work then maybe check that your firewall is not blocking everything

I was experiencing the same symptoms but using iBurst on Ubuntu (see thread here) and it turned out to be an incorrect MTU setting. Once I'd corrected the MTU all sites loaded fine.

HTH :)

Hi All,

Some technical notes to assist you in your troubleshooting ...

For those that are unsure whether they've been migrated or not, go to http://www.whatsmyip.co.za/ddclient.php ... the IP address you should be allocated on the MWEB network will be in the following ranges ...

41.132.X.X
41.133.X.X
41.134.X.X
41.135.X.X

If you have an IP other than those above you are not on the MWEB network yet, or possibly have some incorrect proxy settings in your browser. For the MWEB network no proxy setting are neccessary, thus all previous ones should be removed.

MWEB also highly recommends you allow your router to auto learn its DNS servers instead of hardwiring them, as over time they may change. The current DNS server IPs being assigned are ...

196.28.80.140
196.28.80.139

... however this may change/expand in the future.

Hope this helps.

MWB.

MWEB, please can't you post a 1 full thread or sticky with all the information regarding MWEB's network somewhere... hunting through threads is a huge mission!
1 thread with lots of Q & A is and would be great!

I have been experiencing similar issues, but I noticed there were synching issues with the DSL modem. I phoned Telkom, and the support guys says they are doing 10MB trials in certain areas over the next few days. Had to log it as a fault as Telkom could not sync ports with me. Numerous other people have reported the issue as well. The problem seems to be on Telkoms side, my ISP's are MWEB and Afrihost. Annoying it is.
