I have the R99p/m MWEB hosting package for my small business website. I recently installed both Joomla and Hesk onto it and found a very disturbing problem:
MWEB is blocking (probably firewalling) connections from the hosting server to anywhere outside your website??
First I found this when I installed a plugin on Joomla which allows me to synchronize my users with my MailChimp list. After hours of struggling I found that my Joomla instance cannot reach the MailChimp server, due to a firewall preventing access to it.
This was understandable to me since it could be a huge security risk, it is the second part that has me baffled:
I installed HESK yesterday (A php utility which allows my clients to log support tickets to me). One of the features is allowing clients to email a ticket to an email address and HESK will retrieve these emails using POP on port 110 and then importing them as tickets into my system.
To make a long story short: Not Joomla or HESK can connect to the MWEB pop server (pop3.mweb.co.za). I can understand blocking connections to external servers, but an internal POP server? You've got to be kidding me!
