Mweb Uncapped vs OpenWeb Gold Uncapped

Best value for money is definitely MWeb if you're a moderately heavy internet user (unless you're one of those affected by the recent problems). You can easily do over 200GB per month on MWeb. If you're a really heavy downloader (e.g. > 400GB/mnth) then OpenWeb is probably the best value.
 
Definitely Openweb GOLD.

MWEB's new shaping policies effectively make them the worst now.

You should really read more threads. Everything started to go to hell around the 1st of May. Check the normal MWEB feedback thread. There's another thread on how DBN and JHB clients are getting worse performnce than CPT users. Not to mention the other random threads. It's been going on for a while now. Where have you been?
 
Does Openweb do a Telkom ADSL application and bundle it together with their packages like MWEB does?

Even with the problems, I've managed to download over 89 GB so far this month and my phone line was dead for 3 days due to storm damage. Openweb is definitely the better product, but it's still not worth the extra $$$.

I must mention that I do not game online, I don't often stream multimedia and I almost never use torrents so my requirements from an uncapped account may differ from most of those complaining.

What are you using to download? Please don't tell me you're trying to torrent on Mweb...

You can't compare something like OpenWeb Gold, which is close to unshaped, to something like a shaped Mweb uncapped account when you're using a heavy shaped protocol.
Some people are fortunate on Mweb to download torrents at close to full speed 24/7 on Mweb uncapped though.

If you're trying to compare the services, download stuff that aren't shaped as badly - like HTTP downloads from Microsoft/AMD/Nvidia/Google, or just from any other HTTP server.
News server downloads are also very fast on Mweb uncapped, but it depends on the port, protocol & server that you're using though.
 
i get excellent speeds on my mweb uncapped 4mbps all day. milnerton, cape town. i average about 200-300gB/month. lots of video streaming (youtube and dstv live sport) and torrents.

It seems like the guys in Durban and Johannesburg are suffering. I should have stayed in Cape Town :(
 
I couldn't stream anything from E3 on MWEB while other providers worked well.

Luckily I cancelled last month so this month is my last month.
