yeah can't wait for my 4meg uncapped with afrihost. i love streaming my sport, movies, series and whatnot. i can stream abc in the states on a 1 meg line, but freaking boils my blood when it buffers.

Hey AfriMan, is PS3 & Xbox traffic shaped or throttled?
This would be specifically in relation to online gaming and not game downloads.
We're not too certain which protocals are in use for PS3 and Xbox gaming. If anyone knows, we can check this out. Definitely not on Capped Products.
Did some testing for you no lagging in games, thus far all seems good nice quick downloads from the xbox live services, MW3 great pings no delays what so ever and GOW3 running like a dream

Also, what happens if opt for this bundle.
How long does the switch over take, and will I be uncapped from the word go, or only after Afrihost has taken over the ADSL line from Telkom?

As soon as you sign up with us on uncapped, you are uncapped (unleashed?). The account is active in a matter of minutes. remember that we only take over the Telkom line, your data account must be cancelled with your current ISP. So you are signing up for a brand new account.

My 2c worth of feedback. I have the 10mb bundle, using the account for 3 days now, downloaded 48gb (Ok, now it's 50gb) in total, 90% during office hours (I work from home mostly).
NNTP: +- 950kB/s constantly!
Torrents: +- 700kB/s (only tested about 6, as I hate getting my distros from torrents), Tested another one now and it's hitting 850kB/s plus.
YouTube 720p: buffers faster than I can watch
YouTube 1080p: keeps up with a few hiccups now and again.
Browsing: Occasional timeouts while downloading torrents, if the torrents are paused the same page loads instantly.
Skype both VOIP and Video: Flawless
Gaming:Haven't gotten round to testing in detail, but Diablo pings are sub 350 while downloading at the same time.
All and all I am getting 10mb for the same price as, make that LESS THAN, my previous mweb 4mb. In my opinion great value! Will have to see how it keeps up as more people take up the offer, but if the +-400gb throttle limit is anywhere close to true, I will be with Afrihost for life.

Left it going during the night and I am at 73gb now But I think I have all the linux distros I need for a while, so will most probably drop down to 2 - 3gb a day of normal usage now.

I just checked my usage for the last 12 months its about 270 gb average ,I have a 10 MB line which I am not able to use
in terms of you tube etc. so I am thinking I will also go with Afrihost.I am not a gamer so ping is not very important for me.MWEB thinks their 10 MB pricing is fare ,but I am still waiting for a single MWEB 10 MB user to give feed back of their experience.@Afriman if I hit 450 GB say by 20th of a month how's throttling going to be ,is it going down to 2 mb speed immediately or it is going to be decreased step by step ???When will the line going to get normal speed after 20th of next month ???????
I am just clarifying not that I want to do more than 400 Gb every month.

My usage averages out at 133gb a month, but during December it went down to 68gb and peaked at 254gb over the last year. But it is nice knowing that I am able to move say 300gb without being throttled if I needed. It's not that likely that I would though.

Does Afrihost use IS as their uncapped supplier?
I think they use IS as their upstream provider, but I believe they have structured their own uncapped packages. This isn't an IS uncapped package that they are reselling.
I just hope they soon move onto their own network... They must be getting bigger and bigger now, so surely it is going to start working out cheaper for them to control their own network (similar to mweb)

You'll get throttled in increments and eventually go down to 2Mbps if you've still got your foot on the accelerator! But it will stay there!
Unthrottled - will depend on where your usage spikes and how much you've exceeded the threshold in the 30 rolling period. You can check your bandwidth usage report and get an idea of what your last 30 day usage has been.
IS is our upstream bandwidth provider, but these are our own accounts, we're not reselling their uncapped product (except for clients who are still on them).
