Sorry to hear that you're getting such poor speeds Tjorrie. Just as an extension of what VioAdmin mentioned, it might be a good idea to run the tracert command from the command prompt and see what it comes up with in terms of latency. A raw speed test doesn't always tell the full story and if you're having problems at your local Telkom exchange, you will see it on hop 2 of the tracert. If your latency is high enough, it will start to impact your download speed and the responsiveness of browsing.
At the moment, I'm sitting with a latency of over 1600ms to my local exchange due to (what I suspect), is over-contention. If your local exchange doesn't have enough capacity, data bottlenecks will occur and everyone in your area will be affected. If your exchange have enough capacity, Telkom could perhaps reconfigure your connection at the exchange.
What I strongly suggest is, do the following tests and send an e-mail to Mweb support. A support ticket should be generated at that point and hopefully an Mweb rep will contact you:
(Apologies if you're already familiar with running a trace route) Just in case: run "Command Prompt" and type in: tracert mybroadband.co.za > c:\tracert.txt (you can use any local site for the tracert e.g.
www.telkom.co.za) Copy + paste the results from the text file into the e-mail. Also go to
http://speedtest.net and
http://pingtest.net - type out the results and include the "direct link" to the results. Also do a speed test using the following address:
http://speedtest-rba.isdsl.net/ and copy paste those results into the support e-mail.
I think that should give the tech support people more than enough to work with to diagnose your problem.
Hope all goes well
