MWEB's online gaming plans

When will they fix the peering issue between Mweb and Telkom as it is currently impossible to play Black Ops online with a mix of users!!!

As soon as Telkom agrees to peer with them. The invitation is there, but MWEB does not want to pay SAIX in order to allow SAIX users to play.

most major network providers including Internet Solutions, MTN Business, and Vodacom Business

The odd man out is Telkom, they are dragging their feet.
My suggestion, switch to one of the other more progressive networks like MWEB, IS, MTN, Vodocom, etc

MWeb & games?! LOL! Whole reason I left!

Since late January my HoN pings have been outrageously high all times of the day :(

Is Mweb peering with WebAfrica yet? Or am I missing some vital info when it comes to peering?

To get everyone in on the peering thing they should start a brand like Proudly South African. Call it say, Gaming Inside. All ISP's that belongs to the peered lines should have the right to stamp it on their products and proclaim it proudly. If enough advertising is done to push the "If it does not say "Gaming Inside", you are out.." idea, maybe Hellkom will feel the pressure. Come on Mweb...Put on the pressure.

Lots of negativity i see, I just think at least its one step closer to better pings, might not work right now, but still a step forward. Sure i guess we should not be happy with what we get because we ALL know it could be done with relative little effort and just proper communication. The distance from here to europe or america we cannot change, we will always have little higher latency because of the distance, But when u sit on 500 + ms its not the distance its the South african infrastructure.

Surely the business case here has to do with high profile competition, sponsors and events. Game subs go straight to the game producers. A fart in the wind indeed, only because there is a position posted.

As much as Mweb says that they are trying to bring as much content to their local network, there are certain services that this WON't happen with. World of warcraft, Eve online, The Old republic etc etc. they will always be hosted on their own servers. So Mweb SHOULD be looking at prioritising certain ports to certain international servers!

this +10000!

how can this be so hard? webafrica does it, and latency is 225ms average to europe's wow servers. and wow servers only use 2 ports. mweb and theother isp's, c'mon man, its 2 ports

Nobody does as much for internet in SA as MWeb does. Plain and simple. Their big, their tough and they've got the right stuff. Any of you little whiners who expect MWeb to walk on water to bring you internet nirvana yesterday really need to start looking at the facts of the SA internet landscape and who has been doing the heavy lifting. And to anybody still supporting Telkom and it's internet deals.. Well... All I can say is your a bunch of dumb-ass gits for signing a year/2year contract with scum. Cry me a friggen river.

Good luck trying to compete with Do Gaming :P

Hah true.

But if M-Web appoint Jeremi from VentusGaming they might have a serious competitor on their hands. That guy is a tournament god.

I have a 384kb MWeb account and I can participate in any activity on EU wow servers without lag :) You might want to start looking at your own internet settings if you are experiencing problems. :)

if mw3 will be same hosting as black ops, and mweb get rights to host it, you see more guys moving over slowly as they would want the lowest pings for clannies , i would think.
