Okay,

Am running windows 7, still on the RC that I have been on for the past 6 months. A while back I was having problems with webafrica, and the gave my some static DNS address settings to punch in. Now I can't get rid of them. I set my wireless and LAN adapter to obtain automatically, but after a few minutes when I check back, the DNS have reverted back to the old static settings

This is really screwing with my google and gmail. I've removed my wifi and LAN drivers, and reinstalled, but it made no difference. 10 minutes later, I'm back on the old static DNS settings, by MAGIC. Every time I have to ipconfig /flushdns and it takes forever and it's KILLING ME!

HELP.....ME.....

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

How are you acquiring an IP address? From a router or static?

Three places where I will check :

1. ethernet card/wireless card properties > tcp/ip 4 settings
2. check router again that its configured properly as dhcp server
3. check that another computer on your network is not acting as a dhcp server

thats about it....cant think of anything else at the mo.

Same thing happens on my home and work router, so the problem is somewhere else.

1. ethernet card/wireless card properties > tcp/ip 4 settings Yeah, that's where I keep having to change it back to auto

Could be a program you are using?

I think you must have a software installed that is doing that.

On my PC had the same problem until i did a reverse dns lookup on the ip addresses that are being chosen as static. I found out it was the dynamic dns service application on my computer that was doing this. (dyndns.org)

Are you using such a service?

You can do reverse dns lookup using web site like network-tools.com

ooh. am using dyndns. not running at the mo, but still. thankee-sai *bows*
