My first mac

You wanna buy an Apple screen? Those guys are pricey. They also don't have HDMI input, only mini displayport. The Macbook Air is probably worth it though.

They are nice, but like you said - very pricey!!! I was like, Mac Mini with an Apple screen or an iMac?? Went for the iMac 'coz there wasn't too much of a price difference ;)

I see that now... those screens are so nice, but without HDMI there is no point... Would love to hook my PS3 up to it also.
What other screens are really nice?
There are hdmi to display port adapters.

Pretty much any modern TV will do the trick. I mean anything you'll get in a shop now. They all have HDMI and RGB inputs now-a-days.

really?

the guy at the istore must have been a bit of a moron then...

i paid 22000 for everything (incl shipping and vat)

went for the glossy screen.

it is going to be used in my office which is underground so thought it would work out:)

Congrats, had mine for 3 weeks now (13inch) and decided to buy a 23inch Full HD screen today to use with it at work

Are you happy with the build quality?

Is the screen casing also made out of a metal?

Welcome to the Mac!
The build quality should be perfect, aluminum all over.

Just shout if you need any help; look through the Apple threads you should find quite a bit of helpful stuff in there.

As long as you're in a controlled light environment then you should be ok.

I've got a Macbook Pro, glossy, I use it with some huge bright windows behind me. I actually prefer it to a matte screen, which is even worse with lights, IMO

Reading this from my new Macbook Pro 17" i7, its my 3rd MBP but i'm still as excited as i was few years ago when i opened my first MBP box

I've now got a glossy screened MBP which I have to use outside regularly and it kills me. In the end I had to come up with my own solution.

Both MBP's that I bought - in July 2008 and May 2010, I insisted on getting the matte display for this reason. Very distracting to see a mirror image of things going on behind you. Although my iMac with glossy screen is great, because it is only used in one environment where the lighting etc is right. For MacBook Pro's - where you never know from the one moment to the next where you will be using it, I think, matte is the way to go

My only concern is if OS X lion will run properly on the 2010 MBP's with it's enhanced multi-touch.

Do you guys think the track-pad will be able to handle it?

I'd be shocked if it didn't. Can't think that Apple wouldn't plan ahead.

2010 MBP's should be fine - they have proper touch pads (unlike my original 2007 MacBook). Guess I must go get myself a Magic Trackpad for my iMac when Lion is released ;)

It seems like the magic mouse was used in the Lion demonstrations.

If the magic mouse is comparable to the trackpads on the 2010 MBP's then it should be ok. I hope.

Yes, but they did seem to struggle with the magic mouse a bit - I'll get a magic trackpad for that ;)
