I have a website with images on it. I have recently taken new pictures and I want to post them on the same website.

The problem is that the background is different on the images i have just taken. I had a friend edit them in Photoshop and they are suppossed to be separate from the backgound.

I have found a way. I have changed background colour to macth the one onthe website - and it works as expected. Seems though I can only do that in PhotoShop.

This looks like a job for gimp with the fuzzy select tool and a transparency layer.

The images on this website http://www.limpopoart.co.za have a brown background. When I add other images, they are rendered with a white backgroung.

Well, it was probably because your Photoshop-friend saved them with a transparent background. If you save a JPEG with a transparent background, the background is automatically saved as white. That is because JPEGs don't support alpha-channels. If you want to use images with transparent backgrounds, try using PNGs. Beware though, certain older browsers don't fully support PNG files and your images might not appear as you want them to.
