Fact: Lot of platteland folk are overweight, we live comfortably.... don't have Virgin actives to distract us and spend many a weekend eating copious amounts of dead bovine , watered down with even more copious amounts of lager.....

The reason we do this, is besides boredom, we store body fat for the drought season, u city okies know nothing about this ...

43, never smoked in my life....

For what it's worth, we have a staircase here at work, I am the only person who sprints up this staircase, the other 67 employees all hang onto the rail and pull themselves up..... always said to myself, the day that I can't do the staircase is the day I am unfit........

I am sure you get guys that can be fit and still have a boep and be overweight.... kinda like buying Chinese clothing for your kid, where it says 4-5 year old..... but out here in Africa it will fit a 8-9 year old....

I don't quite measure up to your standards of gravitas, but since getting married a few years ago I've put on 20kg... and its serious ****...

4 years ago I used to surf, run and cycle...(pre-marriage ahem) 6 weeks ago I was lucky if I could make it to the remote control without wheezing...

Serious serious ****... so I started walking (screw running since I couldn't actually do it).... 6 weeks later I'm still a fat b*stard... but at least I've made a start...

The moral of the story?
 
I'm suddenly feeling so much better about my extra 6 kilos. :twisted:

My dad's side of the family has a history of hear attacks. All my uncles, almost all my (dead) cousins (Except for one - Landmine in Angola)
A year ago i was feeling a bit off, went to the doctor. The susual sinusitus/bronchitis. But my chest was also sore, so he had his one nurse take a eeg(ecg?). She looked at the readings, excused herself and left the room. A minute later he's in there, his face all ashen.
'Are you feeling ok?' Stethoscope on my chest, measure my pusle.
Seems my chart looked like a heart attack. But I was feeling great.

So I make an appointment with a cardiologist. Turns out my heart is fine, no blockages, valve defects. But I do have what's called a 'Complete Left Branch Bundle Block'. Seems there is a blockage in my nervous system on the one side of my heart. Think faulty hub or router. Its not dangerous, just part of the signal is delayed, making my heart beat a bit wierd.
According to him it will never trouble me, as long as I don't do something stupid like run the Comrades. Which I solemly promised not to do.

As a aside - he told me all the cardio needed every day is 3km of walking. I'm working on it.
 
lol special pharmacist that. He looked at you and did ECG and angiogram ? then phoned someone else and broke confidentiality ?

Someone else = morty's wife

Small mining town your bet your ass the pharmacist is gonna phone his wife if they think he's heart attack material. He's lucky they didn't arrange for an Ambulance to pick him up
