My Job :-(

Ye thats like R12.50/hr on an 8hr/day 20days/month. My ground guys get double that and all they do is make sure the okes on the ropes get what they need and sweep up at the end of the day.

I agree, I earned R19/hour when I worked as a clerk at a videostore! You need to talk to your boss.

Geez people earn more straight out of school with their studies being paid for earn more then you? where do you live? China?

Probably China, was watching news the other day and an engineer working for Honda in china earns 83 Euros a month for the past 2years!!!

sounds hectic, when I first started working 3 years ago I also didnt know how things worked, was getting R3700 after all deductions but I didnt have to work as hard as you at the moment.

I'm currently not employed but can make on average R2000 within a week, or sometimes in a day without any hard work, get some leverage and learn not to let people abuse you, the age old problem is when you have nothing(capital), you'll be used by those that do.

i have ask them to get someone who can help me around the office, a no go. I have expresed my dislike of the job and the job situation , and the reply is: "what is your definition of a good job of 'n lekker werk " "daar is nie 'n ding soos 'n lekker werk nie................." willl jy liewers 'n plumber of 'n elektriesien wees"

you know what makes them better than any other worker of any sort. they can kiss my ass. and they are always saying everyone is replaceable, and it is true every one is and thats why when i go i wont even work out my notice period. unfortunately i have to find a new job first and secondly they have to sign papers to transfer my "training" to a other firm because your "training" cant be interrupted in the 2 years

Heh, ended up resigning today as well. Have to work over the notice period, of course, much to my dismay, but the peanut salary I was getting and the lack of mental stimulation has been getting to me. Then they go and tell me that I slacked last week when I was out of town on business, about an hour or two after I've been back in town (Yesterday). That was the final straw, as I've never hesitated to pull overtime, something I have done pretty much constantly, and actually really busted my butt when away.
And now they're trying to buy me back...

Well played, mate. So JHB still on the cards?

Yep. I was thinking of moving at the beginning of November, pending some details regarding the SO's placement for medicine, which we will find out for definite at the end of next month. Things seem positive though.

In the mean time, they've offered a 40% increase so far and some other perks. I can still earn a fair chunk more doing private work, of which I have a fairly decent portion lined up, but I like a constant salary at the moment, so I'm tempted to let them buy me until Jhb time. Guess it's useful to be mission critical to one of your company's largest projects...
