Hey Guys',
My First propper PC is arriving from America on Saturday Afternoon so i will have it Sunday Morning:cool:
Specs are as follows;

HIS Radeon HD 4870
Intel Core 2 Duo E7300
4 x 1 Gig OCZ DDR2-800
Gigabyte P45-DS3L Motherboard
Seagate Barracuda 500gig Hdd
Seagate Barracuda 160gig Hdd

I still need to get a Case and Power Supply by friday.
Case is sorted (Bought a a Coolermaster CM690, getting on Saturday)
I am stuck for a PSU now:o

My budget is very limited, and i HAVE to have a PSU by friday....
The current PSU that came with the Gigabyte case i have is a 400w ( Delta:confused:)
Last week Saturday at a Lan i was using my friends spare 8800 GTS 640 Mb in my computer to play COD4/COD5 and a bit of Crysis, no problems. So the PSU can run that.
12v +1 is rated to 16 Amps
12v +2 is rated to 14 Amps
It also has 1 PCI-E 6 Pin plug.

Will it run the 4870? Or do i have to get a new PSU, and if so what PSU because i am limited for cashhh:)

Thanks Guys

If it could run the 8800GTS im sure it will be fine, but upgrading as soon as possible might be a good idea. Corsair 620w?

I would test the PSU before people here tell you that you need a new one. It may very well work but test it before wasting cash on a new one.

So there arnt any Dangers like me blowing my new Precious up?

Nope your system will just fail to boot as far as i know, i tried it with my 9800gx2 and all that happened was the card never booted the system. Maybe wait for a few other views on that topic but i doubt an under-powered PSU can blow anything up.

Even if it does run the card, I'd still get a decent-branded PSU. 460watt will be fine.

Okay yeah i need to consider getting a PSU, as i will be over clocking the bejesus out of the E7300 lol...
Any Recomendations please? A quality 500w maybe?

CoolerMaster Extreme Power 500watt or Antec Basiq 500watt or Gigabyte Odin 470watt will all be fine.

Don't go with the odin, I also wanted the odin.....they are NOT certified (Ie: Tested and tried in the real world) on AMD's site. go for a corsair, they are some of the best!

I have read a LOT on guys buying wrong PSU's (Especially for the 4870x2) that are not certified, and the PSU's start making screeching/wheening noises... and i'm not taking that chance

get a psu that is certified for your 4870 - just check the list!

Good advice, but Cooler Master isn't mentioned on their site... I have a CM 750w psu and it's running my 4870x2 just fine.

Original Post. . . And My sisters Boyfriend is bringing it back for me, actually he is buying it for me to , i dont have to pay him a cent:)

Consider an Isonic 600W. They're cheap and mine has been great.

Same here... For the price... Ive had no problems... Except the fans safety grid was touching my case and made a annoying noise, so I just removed that and its been giving me no problems... Homebrewed.
