My views : iPad 2

It iNsane ...

I battle to comprehend why this device the best thing since sliced bread. It's got so many limitations, it shouldn't sell! It's taken 3 days and I have website it can't do, a Youtube video it can't do and a host other things it cannot do.

I like my iPad - but I think any advantages I see are simply a tablet advantage and not an iPad advantage.

Really? are the other pads as smart? The only complaint I have is that they are way overpriced. Otherwise, a pad really beats a netbook. My view. (I have 3 netbooks and don't use them). I have an iphone for out of office work and allthough limited it is my prefered instrument of choice. It works.

That's a very touchy subject re the "fanboys" on either side.
Both have merits + faults... No advantage in dwelling on these. Pity we can't hire these devices (as they have recently started in Spain), that way you could experience both before committing financially.

Indeed. Have now acquired IPAD1. Too bulky and heavy. NOT impressed. Still not sure what it is meant for?! Maybe I am to old for these things :)

Basically email is what I will use this for, suppose any of the pads are ideal then, as long as it is smooth and have powerful processor.

.. browsing, ebooks, magazines and viewing photos.

I keep the pad with me pretty much anywhere I go and it's awesome to simply pick up and browse. No loading, no connecting - just an instant on. With the FNB app, banking is just so much easier too.

We all differerent though - I haven't even bothered to set up my mail ... and my apps are limited to maybe 5 real apps.

I'd suggest setting it up, since I got my iPhone outlook hast seen too much action...

Suppose it depends on the environment you are in, mail does become a bit annoying when you start running low on cap as (might be wrong) but it cant just download the message without attachments.

Would like to have the mail experience on the iPad

The iPad/iOS Safari browser impresses me, compared to Android, it's always so much smoother, faster and renders better. The fact that they have such a great browsing experience is a huge +

Think is my Blackberry is always on me - as in 100% of the time - and I read most on there. Will just feel like a duplication and the only benefit would be the larger screen, I think

The experience on the two devices are completely different.

Browser differences aside, if you're on Facebook/Twitter/use Google Reader get Flipbook! Turns your SN browsing into a magazine.

Just wanted to amend something I mentioned earlier ; lack of Flash is a pain ...

Went to a Josie Fields concert last night and wanted to play someone in the office a clip from her album. Head over to Musica, find the song ... click and 'Flash required'.

I sigh a little and think of another place. Bingo! Her Myspace page would probably have something ... pop over ... find the song ... click and 'Flash required'

We're awaiting for a friends Xoom to show her

I get what you saying, but must admit that I would rather use Youtube or Soundhound for that, even on Android.

Does Soundhound play clips?

EDIT : at $6.99 I'll give it a skip ;)

This is something I don't understand - - both are based on webkit and Google chrome is great on PCs and the Mac; so why is it inconsistent on Android; just doesn't make sense.

Do yourself a favour and look for Vevo HD; it's got most of the music videos you're missing; even a few of the local artists...

Btw an even simpler option (no apps required) is to google it; video search...

Small android phone just dont have the oomf. On the S2 and other high end devices the are basically on par. Example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUkbUfQTKXM

Personally I prefer the Miren browser as it is a hell of a lot more snappier.
