My Windows 10 experience

Thanks for the info gents, busy downloading the iso image and USB copy just don't know if I'm going to unbrick the pc as it is on a boot loop on the please wait blue screen of DEATH,hold thumbs

Only experiance I have had so far is that it did not want to install the upgrade on virtualbox.

The exact same thing happened to me, luckily I had just done a recovery disc onto a flash stick and rebooted up in USB option that worked well for me. Don't you have a recovery disc? then I booted up from Flash stick with Windows 10 pro and had no more problems

Busy running one now , but because of the state of ADSL in this God forsaken country it is taking 2.4million years to download

"Something Happened" three times.

I had to change my language and regional settings to US.

I'm trying to upgrade my wifes Acer machine E1-570, I've tried 3 times via the Windows App, 5 times via the ISO and every time it bombs with the "Something happened' error.... I've changed regional settings and language to US, still no luck.

Any ideas?

WesleyR This has happened to me as well let me explain how I got it right...I had to restore my computer to an earlier time then downloaded the Win App Click only once on it it takes awhile to come onto the screen that worked for me...No matter how many times you click after you clicked on the app it wont work thereafter it says Something happened'... It seems to me once you have clicked on it that's it, Just do ONE double click and wait awhile until it comes on the screen it does not come on straight away This was my experience could be diiferent for others. I then safe guarded by saying I want to save it on a flash stick and made sure I copied it onto a backup drive as well and it worked when I booted from USB...Reginal Settings English South Africa all other settings USA i.e. Keyboard etc

I did the upgrade, had a few issues where there was some problem and my PC restarted a few times. Then it ran great. Bought a new SSD did a clean install and so far I did not have any issues yet.

Thank you, I'll give that a try....

After a few attempts I managed to upgrade from 7 to 10 yesterday afternoon. The only problem I seem to have is that my screen opens in what appears to be similar to what you normally see when opening windows in safe mode. ie the text, icons etc are all magnified and a bit stretched horizontally. I have checked everywhere and don't seem to find where I can change this setting. Have rebooted a number of times without any success. Would appreciate if some one could assist me with this problem.

been useing it for 2days now

only problem i found is that, youtube in chrome the sould plays choppy at moments,
and tested the edge browser it works fast/looks clean but somepages wont load and just a few bugs and loose end that need to be fix other than that, its alot faster that IE

well with updates and better driver support, things can just go better :)

love how they dont force apps in full screen

I upgraded my Lenovo Y50 without any serious issues. I opted to keep all my Settings, Files and Apps as it's too time-consuming to reinstall all the software I use on a daily basis and set everything up again the way I like it. Everything worked as it did before the upgrade except for Bluetooth, re-installing the Lenovo Bluetooth drivers fixed the broken Bluetooth. Lots of people had issues with display drivers, thankfully I had none of those.

Thinking back three years ago when I upgraded my Toshiba laptop to Windows 8, it was a big disaster. Almost all the drivers had to be re-installed or upgraded with newer versions. In the end I had to do a clean install to get everything working again.

Only problem so far was a need to repair the install for Avast antivirus, the service was failing to start.

WIN 10 upgrade was quite simple and painless Took about 4-5 Hours To Download WIN 10 Home x64 and another 1-2 hours and I was back Up and Running.. Desktop Win 7 > Win 10 Home x64 automatically popped up with Nvidia Driver Updates Download, Install Done.
Laptop Win 8.1 > Win 10 Home x64 Upgraded and Done, No Hassles. Only thing I noticed the search bar takes more space in the Desktop vs the Laptop.

Have any of you guys tried to plug your cell phone via usb after a "successful installation" of Windows 10.....and does it work?.Specifically after a ISO installation or USB installation.

Ive had issues with the MTP USB Device and the WDP Filesystem Volume driver.......anybody else
