My Windows 10 experience

I upgraded my Lenovo Y50 without any serious issues. I opted to keep all my Settings, Files and Apps as it's too time-consuming to reinstall all the software I use on a daily basis and set everything up again the way I like it. Everything worked as it did before the upgrade except for Bluetooth, re-installing the Lenovo Bluetooth drivers fixed the broken Bluetooth. Lots of people had issues with display drivers, thankfully I had none of those.

Thinking back three years ago when I upgraded my Toshiba laptop to Windows 8, it was a big disaster. Almost all the drivers had to be re-installed or upgraded with newer versions. In the end I had to do a clean install to get everything working again.

I did my Lenovo Thinkpad Edge last night.

First issue was the system partition being too small - easily fixed with Minitool Partition Wizard.

Everything went okay after that from the USB flash install I created with the Media Creation Tool.

2 issues I had in Office 2010 today:
- Excel was opening with Book2 instead of Book1. Not a major issue, but fixed by turning off a report designer add-in.
- Outlook refused to sent out email, even though the test emails went through when testing the settings. From admin cmd, sfc /scannow, fixed the problem.

Hopefully that might help anyone else with the same issues.

Also kept all settings, files, apps. Bluetooth working fine without any changes required. The fingerprint log-in came back up as an option after the first reboot from inside Win10.

Some feed back..........Had endless trouble from day 1 however there is some light at the end of the tunnel.Did a clean install after the "automated upgrade process" and im pretty impressed. I am glad to report all is good in the world of Windows 10!!

So from the automated upgrade process your windows 10 copy...... 90% chance it will be a balls up but let is run its coarse and activate on the upgrade. Then once that is done, back everything up and install a clean format boot copy from either a ISO or USB installation.

No issues on my side. Just made my wifi connection a metered connection so it does not do automatic updates.

Took ages to do the upgrade on my HP mini server from 7 X64
Was 7+ hours !

But all ended well. Running smooth and all apps and settings as they were before.:)

Downloaded RTM ISO 2 weeks back used Rufus to make bootable USB, did upgrade from within windows and less than 15minutes later I was running Windows 10 working nice and fast on my Samsung EVO SSD.

Has any one noticed this issue in W10, letters like g are slightly cut off at the bottom in MS IE and Edge so they look like a Q.

Will install Chrome and test.

PS, increasing the zoom to 110%+ seems to fix it.

This is just a test -> ggggggg gg gggggggggggggggg gg

My bloody Kaspersky's not working anymore. It seems like they're only releasing a patch on 2 September 2015!

No issues here on installation - upgrade from Win7 being a downgrade from Win8.

Must say, quite enjoying it ATM ....

Really like it so far. My pet peeves (but not killer irritations) are that when I boot up for some reason my num lock is never on so I have to first manually put num lock on or I cant use the numpad to login (strange peeve I know but it always worked in W7 and now having to go out of such an automatic routine is irritating).

I also don't like how they implemented the tiles for the start menu but more specifically under all apps. Those tiles look great for the apps designed with them in mind but if you just have a normal program/game with an icon, having that background colour around it looks horrible.

Quick question:
Lets say you have 1 license for Windows 10 Pro and you install a VM with Windows 10 Pro inside the original/mother install.
Would there be a licensing issue?
.

No issues on my side. Just made my wifi connection a metered connection so it does not do automatic updates.
How do you change to a metered connection, I was looking to do the same on wired connection.

Installed error 1076 on MS office, gave me trial version after 4yrs with valid key and couldn't get fixed. Went back to Windows 7 pro.

Ignor list.

Morning

I cant say it is faster.
I have not seen the start button yet. Might be overlooking something.
Slight changes to win8.1. It seems they are hiding some of the futures. (like windows update)
By searching you are able to find it.
