My Windows 10 experience

If you did a straight upgrade from Windows 7, its possible that the app manifest list hasn't been updated properly. You can try uninstalling Dropbox, repairing any broken or missing registry keys with Ccleaner, and then reinstalling Dropbox again.

I had some weird issues with Firefox, Chrome, GIMP, but these were all related to the upgrade process and some quirks with the window manager. Reinstalling them fixed my problems.

The network stack in Windows 10 is slightly different, Virtual Box may need to have an update done to fix whatever issue its having. In the meantime, create a virtual network adapter and interface with your VMs that way for now.

For anyone having issues in general with Windows 10 after the upgrade, backup all your stuff, make sure Windows is activated, then perform a clean install. If you're not up to downloading the ISO, perform a reset through Settings > Update and Security > Recovery > Reset this PC > Choose "Keep nothing" when you get the prompt.

Running the same VM on my laptop, I can switch to a bridged network. I can see all the devices on the network as well.

Could it then be narrowed down to an outdated network driver for my other machine in which I am experiencing the problem?

Most definitely. I had an issue on my netbook where the Broadcom drivers being downloaded were out of date, even though Windows Update was installing them. Installing new drivers compatible with 10 fixed that right away. It could also be Virtualbox itself, but finding out why and whether it can be fixed on your end is going to take some time.

Installed the latest drivers. Still no option under bridged network.
Works perfectly on my Acer S7 though.

Planning on a fresh install for my main PC once I get a new SSD.

upgraded from 8.1 - all is fine but with all my settings checked I can not get outlook to play a sound or desktop notification when new mail arrives - worked fine in 8.1

This is a known issue with certain versions of Outlook if Skype 6.1 is installed.

I'm finding it buggy as hell but not Unusable. Still a better launch than vista. Just drivers are breaking left right and center. Asus has been good at providing updates though.

Buggy as hell? I haven't encountered any bugs or driver issues. Are you running a laptop?

Laptop indeed. Most bugs are driver related but there are a few like my mouse pointer disappearing. Windows update installing older drivers than I put on. The power alert not working or measuring my battery levels incorrectly.

It's always a laptop. I doubt I'll ever buy one for myself. Desktop + tablet + phone is the ideal experience imo. I've spent my whole life helping my parents with laptop issues. Doesn't matter what operating system. So much compulsory bloatware.

In the past I've had mixed success upgrading Windows on laptops. Often the upgrade is successful, but performance takes a hit. Or there are driver issues. Etc.

Hence I've learned to just keep the same OS that was bundled with the laptop (or notebook). I usually purchase a new laptop every couple of years anyway so upgrading the OS just isn't worth the hassle.

I came here expecting this:

This one is a #fail on Microsoft's part. No further information whether something good or bad happened you are just left there clueless

Start10 just provides a Windows 7 start menu in Windows 10. So you'll have a Windows 7 experience with all the non-UI benefits of Windows 10.
Eh, i see its not a free product am i mistaken ?

No, Start10 is not free.

I'm using Start8 on two other computers, one running Win 8 and the other Win 8.1. Start8 is great - but for Win 10 I actually prefer the Win 10 start menu.

Well I have now had Windows 10 Professional running for 5 days and have been changing a host of items to get it to behave like Windows 7 which is where I come from.
Never liked Windows 8, looks very cheap and nasty as far as the window frames are concerned and sadly Win10 looks the same.
It is still a bit buggy but otherwise works quite nicely and should satisfy most users, especially the Win8 users.
I had no idea Windows Home and Professional were so vastly different.
Speed wise I's say Win10 is 1% faster.
Personally I have decided to put my Win7 Pro SSD back and stay with that for another 6 months or so and try again :)

My Win10

Changed my work Dell laptop to Win 10 yesterday and are happy so far. After the upgrade I downloaded all the latest drivers for my laptop and installed them(No I did not have any issues but did it anyway)

I did participate in the preview program and knew what was coming.
