Hi Guys

What percentage of ADSL users would you say participate or atleast view information on this forum.

That would be good to know

Diddy

There are about 100 000 ADSL lines in South Africa, but some have more then one user per line, We have about 6700 members and some more guests (maybe a 1000, wouldnt really know where to begin to guess this), s you can work it out at the widest stretch of the imagination I would say 8% but I doubt that, firstly that would imply 1500+ guests all of whom use ADSL and assuming all members use ADSL which is wholly inaccurate, and doesnt take into account users who have more then one alias or who havent contributed in a long time.

Realistically I would say 2% would be pushing your luck

I think out of the 100,000 adsl users, only 7000 users registered here can afford the ISP account above the line rental and actually get online ;-)

Superant; if your guestimate is right, how can we go about getting the other 98% of ADSL users on here?

Imagine the power we will have if MyADSL has the majority of ADSL users active on the forum!!

All the ADSL ISP's should send emails to their users with a link to the myadsl forum, explaining what the sites all about and urging them to sign up.

I also think that the ISP's that are 'honestly' serious about more affordable internet should include a banner or hyperlinks in their electronic statements they send out to ADSL subscribers linking them to http://MyAdsl.co.za/ and http://Hellkom.co.za/ .
It will cost them nothing but a few minutes to include them and it will go a long way into spreading awareness.
I also say 'honestly' cause some of the ISP's imho are just Telkom lapdogs and couldnt give a rats ass what the public pay, as long as their margins dont suffer.

Technically that would count as Advertisement for MyAdsl.
Yeah I know it doesnt hurt anyone etc. etc. But advertisement isnt free...never has, never will be.

The 2% is about right IMO as well... could go as far as Making it 5% of ADSL users *Know* about this forum, but likely only 2% of those viewers frequent the forums.

Also gotto remember that a large portion of ADSL users simply have it for simple internet tasks, such as web surfing, email, banking...its a horrible fact, but its true.

The people coming here are mainly gamers, downloaders and are irritated with the service. Thus we seek a way to fix it. The majority of Bumpkins simply enjoy having *fast* internet and being able to do their banking during the day.

What about having a banner on the site for each of the ISP's that send a mail, or maybe a seperate page with all the different ISP's and different pricings etc (or would that take away the consumer forum feel of the site?).

I think all ISP's should offer incentives to clients for taking part in the forum, although it will be difficult with Telkom and the small profit margins of the ISPs

maybe we should raise a fund to advertise on news papers and some web portal to unveil ourselves. :)

I think each ISP should give out the address to this tie with their account details.
Something like, go here for grievances, or to kick Telkom's ass simply click here..
;)
...or wait... before you break that telephone while talking to telkom accounts, try this link...
hehe

I imagine TelkomInternet are the largest ADSL ISP. Do you think they would promote this forum?

heheehehe
...then again, their so doff, just might...
....offer them free advertising if they promote it, they prob fall for it.
..they just see $$$$$ and nothing else
