MyADSL Movie Thread

for those into quirky and interesting arthouse cinema - thats a mix of WW2 stuff and mythology - keep an eye out for a great little movie called 'Pan's Labyrinth'.. http://imdb.com/title/tt0457430/
Its up for a foreign movie Oscar I think, so it might appear in SA at some point. Wont be for everyone, but those into fantasy will love it. Its NOT a kids film..
 
Leitmotif & hj2k_x - glad to see fellow 007 fans who thought this movie was so brilliant. The whole lack of gadgets and fancy things was what I really enjoyed. I'd actually like to see it again some time. Can you believe it's the highest-grossing 007 movie ever? $448mil and climbing.
 
The new Scorsese film currently showing is very good .

So if you haven't seen it - do yourself a big favour and watch it :)

re the 'new' Scorcese - (assuming you're talking 'The Departed') its a REMAKE of two much better films-
"Infernal Affairs' and "Infernal Affairs 2' (2 out of 3 Hong Kong cop thriller film series)
If you have access to a cult vid shop, the originals are around in Joburg - watch them rather..
 
I watched that yesterday ... was bored out of my skull. Almost walked out, but stuck in there to see the end. Just a notch or two less boring than "Dark Blue" ... actually walked out of that one! ZA Medic was even more bored than me, but he hung in there 'cos I wanted to see the end (of The Departed)
 
Watched The Departed last night as well. Thought it was really good. Didn't fell that long to me...The end got a bit too Shakespeare for my liking but some of it was really unexpected...:eek:

I'd recommend people check it out for sure!

The wife and I both really liked Casino Royale. The previous Bond pushed things too far with that "cloaked" car. Leave the Star Trek stuff to Star Trek.

Saw Deja Vu a few days ago. It was a pretty decent action thriller, some sci-fi in there as well as a little romance too. imdb gives it a good rating too.
 
Im really itching to check out the Silent hill movie- im an absolute fanatic, ive finsihed all four games and i have a couple of wallpapers but i never made it to the cinemas on time!:(
 
Recently watched and my ratings:

Children of Men - 8.5/10 (a sleeper hit, with an interesting story and good acting)

Casino Royale - 6.5/10 (good action film, but not a good Bond film IMO)
Happy Feet

Happy Feet - 8/10 (I loved the creatively implemented music and dancing sequences)
 
Finally got to see Lady In The Water ... oh my ... snooooooze.

Saw The Illusionist. Really enjoyed it. Edward Norton rocks.
