right back to the PC issue.

low budget so here goes:

Foxconn H61mxl LGA 1155 board R349.00 special
core I5 2500k R1659.00 NOT SURE IF THIS IS WORTH IT ON THAT BOARD
2x DDR 1333 4 gb R338.00
1tb HDD R799.00 still running 2 x 80gig hdd in old rig
R3145.00

Not a 100% sure if the case will work otherwise throw in R300.00 for a Tin can :)

psu is a 500 watt, about a year old and gfx is ati 5570 club so that will do.

Right gents let's hear it, what good/bad with this or should I just go play on my psp hehehe

Looks good. Getting a cheaper mobo now is OK, you can always get a z77 later on when the prices drop and you need to OC.

CPU is good. If you dont intend to OC then you can go with a non K version but long term with a nicer mobo you can OC that 2500K to 4.5ghz or more easy and it'll save you from upgrading so soon.

mem is good. Also have a look at Takealot for some duel sets. here is a good set

just make sure if you going to be using that 1tb as a boot drive that its a 7200rpm drive.

Im sure that case will work. That mobo is small
 
I see the SWU guys also want to schedule the match next week, possibly Thursday at 8pm.

They better watch out as I'm going to be packing Ivy Bridge power for that match :D

I am just worried about Tim, hopefully he's on tonight, cuase I am not in a postion to sort out the match tonight.
 
Generally i only buy Asus for myself. I have heard Asrock is also not bad. I tend to stay away from Gigabyte. Maybe because years ago the performance of the boards was not great.

Nice thing with some of the new Asus boards is Anti-surge Protection built in plus 3yr warranty and lightning strike warranty included. I had my old 500w surge and the board rebooted and told me that the protection had kicked in. So glad, only had the board for 2 months.
 
My gigabyte also comes with surge protection now and a 3 yr warranty.

I have rma'd 2 MSI boards in the last few months so wont touch them again
 
How did the game go last night?

so the mistery unfolds on my PC, i managed to get it to power up once, then it switched off again.

So this leads me to believe CPU is fine. it's seems the PC is overheating which isn't possible, so if I am lucky it might be the fact that the termal paste is no more or there is some dust around the cpu heat sensor which is causing the machine to believe it's over heating. however it's also possible that a capacitor on the board has fried... so hopefully a good clean and new paste will be enough to revive my PC.

with all this however, it is time for a new mobo. Atleast it will allow me to save some cash.
 
Could also be the PSU. But sounds like a motherboard issue. I had something similar with one of the MSI's I rma'd recently

We lost again. But at least we looked better as the game progressed. We played Bazaar and Dam peak and even won the first round of Dam peak.

Why do we always end up playing Bazaar. That map is bad luck for us. We should eliminate it early on next time.

Was fun though

Last night Kao was a proper suicide bomber, nearly died laughing at his new antitank tactics
