MyBB guide to quitting smoking

Ok time to join here.

I do not smoke but my wife does and she smoked 25 cigs a day. Our daughter in the USA started on ecigs and told her mom about them and she sent some over. The first was a USB cig (attached to pc via cable). My wife was "hooked" from day one. They then discussed the idea of ecigs and then our daughter sent over the "normal" ecig that you charge and can carry around with you. My wife has dropped from smoking 25 a day to about 5 a day as she does not (at this stage), want to quit but cut down. It seems to be working.

Here's the thing.

Ecigs are not easy to find in a brick and mortar shop and when you do they are very expensive. There are cheaper models out there but you have to look for them and you will find them in the most unlikely places. Most of the shops that we did come across have said they are discontinuing the product or they only have certain products. Buying the accessories is also very expensive but you can get the items cheaper if you do your research. Some places that sell them do not even know what they are or how they work and laugh at you when you ask questions and that's partly because the staff do not know an ecig does and because the staff members do not speak/understand plain english.

There are also some that work a whole lot better than others. To me though the biggest thing is getting a good quality juice, I have tried a bunch and the good is just that much better.

Yip that we have found out too. There are tips and tricks to ecigs too (who would have known). The juice is a sore point as the going rate for a bottle is R50 for anything from 4ml to 10ml. There are places selling juice for over R200. You will be lucky to find a flavor other than Mint,Cherry and these are normally low whereas most people I think would want a stronger flavour with a higher nicotine content.

If you have one sort of ecig and you do happen to come across some cheaper filters they more then likely do not fit your cigarette.

I got 10ml Dekang juice from vaping101.co.za for R60 ea and got them in 36mg(ultra high) and 24mg(high) definitely worth it though. The refillable ones are always best and cartridges dont do it at all for me.

I think we were on that site. I will pass the info on to my wife so she can have a look.

I used it first because the guy that runs the business is a mybb user. Now I use it because he is so helpful and the service is great.

oh really, that's good news then.

I see there are agents here in Cape Town.

LOL, i always used to think drug addicts were bad, you know shooting up scrapping up all the left over bits for that tiny extra line haha until i tried to stop smoking. Then i realized i was just as bad.

Your indian name is stompie raider now :p

Who was smoking that there were stompies lying around?

lol... i can't tell you how many times i considered smoking the stompies in my car ashtray over the last few weeks... that reminds me, gotta vacuum the car soon to get rid of that cigarette smoke smell.

the poor guys in the army used to raid bins for stompies and then make a moerse zol from the tobacco of every type of cigarette on the market.

The best way to quite is Alan Carr. I did it almost 3 months ago and I haven't looked back.
I did Alan Carr and quit for a full month 5 years ago. I'm smoking again :D

I am back on the horse. I was outside smoking 2 nights ago and all that I could think was "Wtf am I actually doing?"

Tasted siff, my throat is killing me, and I stink to high hell. :p

Just have to keep those negative ideas of smoking fresh in my brain.

Dude its so hard to remember those things when all you want is a smoke!
Seriously, look at the electronic ciggies - and then use them as you would a normal ciggie.
I found that if I go outside and have one like I would with a normal one then it makes quitting much easier. Im a week and a half in and not battling at all.

Thanks dude, will consider one. Well done on a week and a half. Its not easy.

For me I know I can do it, I quit for 4 years before, so its just a matter of focusing and no letting stress get to me to the point where I start up again.

Yeah stress is a killer, I have had a few months quit here and a few months there but nothing as long as 4 years!
If you go for the elec route then get the highest strength juice cos the lower stuff wont take the craving away.

Even though I've fallen off the horse... I'm quite happy with the fact that I have gone from smoking a pack a day , to smoking only when drinking (and maybe 1 or 2 during the week when invited by the other smokers in the office)

I just wish I could smoke only when I felt like it. I actually enjoy it, but its the other times when you end up smoking just out of habit that gets to me.

I wish I could have 1 or 2 a day after work at home with a beer. Doesn't work like that though :(
