MyBB guide to quitting smoking

3 years next month for me, at the point now where I can't even wrap my head around why I ever was so foolish to inhale smoke into my lungs for "pleasure":wtf:

Ditto (although 2 years for me).

10,500 cigarette not smoked...

Has anyone found quitting to be easier than they thought?

Had my last smoke on Thursday last week after cutting down for a few days, and haven't looked back since.
I was also reading Allen Carr so maybe mentally was just prepared.

After smoking for more than 16 years just always thought I would struggle more. The first 3 days were difficult but manageable.

Have had tonsillitis since Sunday and might explain why its easier to not smoke, but not sure if the quitting or sickness came first.
But going strong at 5 days now and don't miss it or even think much about it.

I'm currently struggling to quit smoking. I tried once to quit but ended up having "just one more for old times sake" before getting back on the bandwagon full time.

I quit 3 months ago I tried the acupuncture technique and tbh was skeptical about it's effectiveness.
I heard about it from a few people but always thought it was BS until a colleague mentioned Dr Zipp (http://zipphealth.co.za)

Went into his practice .. Met the Dr he started with a speech about why smoking is bad for you, almost felt like he was scolding me for smoking anyway started with the needles which I never seen or felt really ... after 30 min the procedure was over and I left .. I felt no craving after and yes there has been times I really craved for a ciggie I just ignored the crave as it usually lasts few minutes and 3 months later I still get excited by the fact that I quit smoking

I recommend the technique and it was cheap like R500 or so ..

Good luck

I bought a box a few hours ago for a friend. Still no inclination. If you still smoking enjoy it, do not feel guilty. Guilt makes it nearly impossible to quit. If you still smoking, post, do not feel bad, you are welcome!

Smoke free since April 2011, still preaching the Alan Carr method, pick up his book or go to one of his seminars of you want gimmick free way of quitting, before you can overcome any addiction, you first have to understand how the addiction traps you, his method helps with the psychology behind this

Over 2 months now. Went up to Jo'burg on business. I was so busy, I never thought about it. Strues bob. Then after a week I was on a roll. Been back home a month and still not smoking. Hardly ever have the lus, either. It was the change of environment. Amazing.

That post was 29 October 2012. Now 2 years without a smoke. Never been tempted. Can be done, my fellow nicotine addicts. Hang tough!
