Uhm, ever since yesterday, firebug shows about 19 errors per page. This seriously affects page load time and causes Foxy to hang for about 5 seconds on each page.

Seriously, all you need to do now is cut down on the "Duh, we've read that already on ARS/slashdot/etc." articles and cite more references (statistics, studies and reports) when wild claims are made in other "popular" articles and you'll have hit web-news-site perfection.

I've been having huge issues getting into MyBB over the last couple of months (hence the scarcity) - maybe something similar to your problem TheRoDent? (btw, I get 49 errors for this page)

Nice improvements! Perhaps you can find some volunteers among the community to source/write news bits? That would easily take care of local content I think.

I just had a look at Firebug and get no errors. Both news page and forum page loads quick. Do these problems still continue?

Agree on no images, but just a few more words, otherwise it's not a newsletter but rather just a rehash of the myADSL news page.
