That is what we used to do, but many people complained, saying they want to comment below the article and do not want to join the forum. Other people prefer the forum comments, which is more suited to online discussions rather than just single comments,
 
It looks much nicer now. More organized, much closer to the old interface yet with something new. Good job listening to the comments rpm! I can live with the way it is now. Would've preferred some more wide-screenness, but it'll do :p
 
Thanks rpm. I like the article and the cat, But not the front page, hard to see what I have read already.

So those are Disqus not MyBB user names?
 
I like the new look! :)

It's really not that difficult to navigate. I don't see why people are complaining. But I guess you cant please everyone.
 
New look is great on my large monitor and its nice to have a fresh look.
Unfortunately I usually check MyBB on my laptop and / or iPad ... the large font doesn't suit small screens and it requires a lot more scrolling.

use Ctrl+mousewheel up/down to zoom in or out will fix it

I agree,I've been reading less articles on mybb since the inception of the new look,too much of a chore to scroll up and down randomly finding articles.

The votes also show the new look is not liked by most,I don't know why rpm and co are persisting with it until now surely you do things that "improve" your site not things that hurt usability just for the sake of looking nicer?:confused:

We are monitoring the performance of the system closely, and will still make changes in future as needed.

i agree with that. i have stopped reading news on MyBB.

definately not feeling comfortable with the change - maybe number of new articles old vs new is not the same anymore (any previously if i logged in on a daily basis it was able to see a complete new set of articles.... this doesnt seem to be the case anymore ( maybe im going crazy :P )

but yes - comparing screenshots old vs new - size of the AD's is a big jump ( thus usually an add was a banner - now it it taking up the space of an article.... big no no
 
Well, now that I've had a coupla weeks to get used to the new layout I have to say - it still SUCKS bigtime.
Read down one column, scroll back up to read down the column next to it. Seriously? WTF? We're not reading Japanese here.
