MyBroadband User Survey

What about Vodacom GPRS/Edge

Hi I don't see a survey for Vodacom GPRS/Edge, which one should I complete? I also use dsl512 so would want to complete that survey too.

Matt

Hi Matthewl

Unfortunately we do not have a Vodacom GPRS/EDGE survey as it is not really broadband. DSL512 feedback will be great though!

Regards,

RPM

I'm not a techie, but attempted the survey. I did the Vodacom HDSDPA survey. The Telkom test ran successfully, but I tried a few times to run the iBurst test. It does not display the executable (don't know what to call it) file link.

I installed the TCPIQ software and will run the test a few times. The instructions says over a few days. Is that what you want?

Hi Esterl

Thanks for forming part of the broadband testing!

1. The reason why you dont see the iBurst tests is most likely because you do not have Java installed. No problem...simply do the questions that you can.

2. You can simply send the TCPIQ test results URL to me and do as many tests as you like. More is always better, but this is entirely up to you.

Thanks again and regards,

RPM

HI

I have drilled my 3 gig cap so now I am only in the 30gig browsing mode that my service provider (Openweb) offers.

1. I assume this doesnt affect the results I am getting on the tests? I dont think they should as they all seem to be http tests; and the results I am getting are pretty much the same that I get during my 3 gig cap time. (I run the tests often and the telkom test result is actually the fastest I've seen so far!)

2. and most NB, I can't download the exe for the TCPIQ Speed Test as my proxy connection with openweb doesn't permit this. Is there another way for me to get my hands on this?

Kind Regards

Hey guys, had no problems with testing until I got to the speedtest.net speed test. Nothing seems to happen on this site, it just hangs. Any ideas?

Clarification Required: "Broadband Service Provider"

Hi rpm

Would you mind clarifying something for me: A number of questions on the survey refer to the "Broadband Service Provider" e.g.
Please rate the following aspects of your broadband service provider's support, where (10 = Excellent) and (1 = Pathetic)

I assume "Broadband Service Provider" refers to Telkom and not one's ISP, but I'm not quite sure. Which does it refer to?

Thanks
Saber

PS If this is referring to Telkom, I wouldn't want to give them the scores I would give to my ISP :p

Hi Saber

It is indeed the provider, ie Telkom, Vodacom, MTN, iBurst, Sentech or IS.

RPM

Both tests done!

The iBurst speed test did not work/load on my Mac using Firefox, had to run it from my PC, which correctly prompts you to install JAVA Runtime.

I have downloaded JAVA and can do the test now - 422kbps vir HSDPA???? Both the other local tests (Telkom and TCPIQ) give readings in the same order. Am I just naive or is the marketing talk of 1.8mbps just that - talk.

Would iBurst (I'm in dark green) give any better? Speed to me is of the essence as I work from home and receive important emails from my employer on an continuous basis and can't spend hours reading my mail. (I don't use it for gaming).

Have registered my profile with TCPIQ as Vodacom 3G. Then it gives 3 technical ways of connecting. I am not sure which to select vir HSDPA. Selected top one, then it says I have uncapped download and upload. Is this correct or should I modify my profile?

O no, what have I done:eek:

I gave them a good score thinking it was my actual ISP!!!!!

Telkom Bastards, got me again!

Can anyone help me on this previous post of mine?

the 2nd test didn't want to work at for me. Also the international one in the 1st was odd, latency was higher than i expected and speed test download showed only 112 kbps that, when i download things at 40+kB/s even as a single thread or straight download from browser.
